Looking at the HPG SAR bag for my S&W 5". Anyone using the HPG Kit Bags care to comment on your experience with it?

Mackay Sagebrush has both the HP bag and a 5" classic n frame. I'm sure he'll be along with info. In the mean time, here is my HP large bag shown carrying my 5" Freedom Arms M83 (500 JRH). . . .

The one I have is a "Recon" which has the Molle attachments on the front. A 5" N Frame is the absolute maximum size I can fit in it. But it does work. Pics tell the tale:

Thanks Mac! Hoping the SAR has just a little more space, but I think it will fit the need. Getting the gear in shape!

Now is the time to get all the stuff ready to go and tested.
Elk and deer season is right around the corner. A lot of guys wait until a couple days before they are supposed to leave for their trips and only then realize that 'X" doesn't work, or they forgot about something that was broken from the last trip.
Making some dry runs with guns and gear is never a bad idea.

For sure! The 29 Classic DX fits it nicely. Also tied in a kydex trigger guard for days the G20MOS is swapped for the Smith. Seems like it is about the same size as the Recon. Quick access to the handgun is stellar.
It is not the total and complete answer if one needs a backpack for their amount of gear, but the SAR does work well keeping hands free for the rifle without snagging in the brush. Adding a backpack when needed is no problem.

I don’t remember the exact size I have but it’s my favorite way to carry a 1911/HK Expert/4” revolver. I believe it’s the Recon. Has room for a few extra essentials like game calls or compass or gps. And HPG quality is excellent.
