My first ever order of factory seconds arrived today. 140g ballistic tip to try in my 260 remington. The bullet itself looks very similar to an SST or A-max from Hornaday.
Does anyone have any good load data for the mentioned 260? Im still relatively new to reloading. I have some h4350 and hunter available right now.
If you bought them from Midway they are Hornady SST or ELD-m. The SST will have a cannelure (groove) around the bullet shank. The ELD-m will not have a groove. Use data directly from Hornady.
If you bought the 2nds from Shooters Pro Shop in Oregon (the only place Nosler 2nds are sold) then they are true Ballistic Tips. Use Nosler data and load accordingly.
Google Nosler 260 load data. H4350 and Hunter are GTG. Load up and shoot, you'll find sumthing that'll look somewhat satisfying. H4350 should be your first try.
No matter what bullets you actually have, any data for 140gr bullets can and will work as long as you start near the bottom / middle and work your way up. You'll also notice that some sources list different min and max powder charges for same bullet weights sometimes even the exact same bullet. My point is that data is a great guide but your rifle will tell you what it likes and what is safe. You may not reach the max load listed in a manual before you see signs of pressure. You may not get the same velocities that the manual advertised. Again data is a starting point.
The other poster mentioned 4350, and that is solid advice. There are lots of great powders out there but you just need to work with what you have and find something that your happy with accuracy wise
I looked through the bullets for defects and found them all to be as good as factory firsts. Would it be possible for the defect to be the color of the polymer? These look exactly like hornday sst, other than the color of the tip.

That would be my thought that the blem designation comes from the black color. I have some blems with a green tip.
Those are definitely SST bullets with a different color tip.
Could be from a run they did for another company, like Winchester or Federal.

Blem can be different color of the tip than normal to slight discolor of the jacket or a canular where isn't normally present. I've shot a bunch of 2nds without any problems. Just use load data for the same bullet weight.
I use Hunter and 140’s in my 260 Ruger ftw. All the Ramshot ball shoots best up near the top on pressure. I’m using 44.5 grains behind Hornady interlocks, Speer hot core and Nosler partition bullets. Your rifle may require less or more.

^ what he said. I don’t waste time starting low with Ramshot . I start 2 grains below max and work up in .5 increments when I get to near max load. Then I go up .2 or 3 increments . I use big game with 130s and used hunter as well. Hunter on the heavier pills.
All of them do something better than the 30-06, but none of them do everything as well.
