I'm looking for a scope for my Kimber .22 Hunter. I'd like something with a Parallax that will focus close. Budget around $500. So far I'm looking at the Leupold VX Freedom 3-9x33 EFR and the Sightron S1 4-12x40 AO. Any others I should consider?

Why is it called a double u, should'nt it be called a double v?

While waiting for 'Horn's to arrive, for added inclination and better meld comb height. Hint.

The cited Reupold is a piece of fhuqking schit, the Sightron an easy pass. 42 Mil's on the erector,10yd parallax,10 Mil's on the etched reticle, amazing zero retention, amazing tracking and amazing repeats do not suck. Hint....................

I too have been looking for a different 1" AO scope for my Kimber 82c. I tried a Tract 22Fire, but the raised bump on magnification ring provided little clearance with the bolt handle. I'd like to have some windage marks on the reticle.
This Athlon scope caught my attention during searches, but its bump on the power ring may be too high also.

Maybe a Burris Fullfield IV 200489

You might consider a Weaver RV9 if you can find one.

3-9x32AO, stock number 849398.

Leupold 3x9 EFR would be my choice.
My Kimber has an older version and it has worked perfectly for years. Shot rimfire silhouette with it for a few years and cranked it up and down and never failed. Very good scope, i think.

The 3-9x Reupold is a steaming pile of fhuqking schit and especially in EFR with a fhuqking Stoney Point and friction. Hint.

The 10x SWFA is readily available and a Slam Dunk. Hint………….

This. I have both the earlier one as above and the newer Freedom one and actually prefer the Freedom over the earlier one. It, the earlier one, will go on an incoming Mannlicher Anschutz 22 Mag. The Freedom resides on a NULA 22 rf.

I actually shoot and mechanics matter. Few things are schittier than Reupold. Hint.

The etched MilQuad reticle alone, trumps all things Reupold by light years. Hint.

Pardon my being afforded the luxuries of not being forced to guess,as I simply shoot it all and then some. I have better than a dozen Annie 54’s but only (4) Vudoo’s to reflect upon and extrapolate 100’s of scopes. Hint.

Fhuqking LAUGHING!………….

Much as it pains me to agree with the guy from Paradise, I find a fixed 6 w/ adjustable focus does about all I need from a .22. Both my main rifles are wearing them now; one SWFA, and an old Burris compact on my “squirrel” rifle that has some mounting challenges.

More Xs can be handy for shooting groups I suppose, but with the right reticle and target, a 6 works very very well. A 6” plate at 200 is easy to see, and hit if you can dope the breeze….

You can't "give" it an etched reticle of (10) Mil correction, nor 42+ Mil's of erector travel, let alone 10yd parallax and unwavering zero retention, tracking and repeats. Hint.

Though you can guess aloud like a CLUELESS Fhuqk. Hint..............................

That’s true, but it is pretty hard to dial four feet of elevation for taking a 200 yard poke if the clicks don’t exist.

Last time I had my 10/22 CSC out, I alternated between dialing the correction on the SWFA and holding with the hashmarks. Worked perfectly either way, but dialing was easier.

OTOH, the caps on the little Burris on my CZ will stay put until I change loads (hopefully).

I have a 6X SWFA on one of my rimfires and a 10X on another and I have to say I can't tell you which I prefer. I have other scopes on other rimfires and they all have a few things in common- decent reticles with lots of info on them, lots of adjustment, and a parallax adjustment that goes down to a minimum of 20 yards or less. The SWFAs in fixed power seem to do all this with the least fuss and very good glass to boot. If they had stock on hand the last couple years I would have bought more of them, but it seemed they were dead set against selling scopes for a while there... either that or Stick was buying them all up... wink

These EFR scopes are close to perfect for me on several KoO rifles.

Shameless plug…

If I expected such pokes the right base would manage it. You take many pokes at squirrels at 200? I used to own your scope and did not find it easy to see through. Same with the Leupold mini's of the day. The Burris was no lightweight either.

Nope. That rig is just for range fun. Being able to count on the adjustments responding correctly keeps it fun, rather than frustrating.
