Are you aware of the current bill in our Demonrat senate concerning the PGC?

This is my take on an article from the Lancaster County Farmer.

The bill proposes to take $150,000,000 (of the $250 million in the
coffers) from the Game Comission, and use it to make farmers more environmentally friendly.

The US Fish and Wildlife agency has said that if those funds are used outside the fish and game world,
" PA, won't be eligible for the over $40 million a year they get from The Pittman Robertson Act".

In addition, the bill will make State Game lands subject to property taxes.

The house will likely stop it, but this is a big deal.

Between stealing 60% of our money for the Greenies, losing the
PR Act money, and having to pay the taxes on over 1,500,000 acres of our hunting lands, this would destroy the PGC and change everything as we know it regarding the administration of hunting in our state.

Rarely am I positive about PGC, but this can't be allowed to happen.

That is OUR money, taken from us in license fees and taxes anytime we purchase anything "Outdoors".
Timber and petroleum revenues generated from the lands purchased with our Grandfather, Fathers and our own money. In some cases land freely given to PGC to provide places for our kind of recreation.

Almost an aside, but I've seen this kind of taxpayer waste.

A 150 acre farm, half woods, with a spring and an easy step across steam through it. Absentee, out of state, owners. Currently leased to pasture some beef cattle.

The renter tapped into the golden spigot somehow.
An excavator spent much of the summer putting in a big cistern, pumps, and thousands of feet of pipe. To supply 5 or 6 watering stations.

A golden setup, and it wasn't just to keep them out of the crick.
Several stations are in place that weren't accessible to water (a road)
before!

I'm still passed our tax money went to projects like that.

We can't let the Liberals wreck our hunting, while sacrificing our money to bureaucratic waste and such idiotic projects.

i'm aware and am talking with our state reps and Senator about it. whether you believe it or not, we are lucky in the way our PGC is structured. it is self-funding and for the most part self-regulating. IMO this bill's intent is to strip those benefits. we are also very lucky in that we have three separate agencies. I know first-hand how bad the DCNR is mismanaged due to it's "general- legislature regulated/funded structure. for all that the PGC may not do right they do an awful lot of good. but they are trending with not so good decisions. most recently they did away with the requirement that new game warden cadets have a history of having hunting licenses.

Another pitiful and dangerous attempt by PA democrats to use someone else's money to fund their crazy ideas. They've done it to school funding, turnpike management, gambling revenues, roads and bridges, and others. Before anyone writes this off as something that won't get passed, they should look at all the crazy ideas here that did go through and fight hard against this one.

Wtf

State of PA to bill itself property taxes for state owned land?

JFC, guess it’s too early for my reading comprehension. Tennessee does not pay property tax to federal entities.private entities and persons with title and deed pay To the State any property taxes. I don’t write a check out to any federal office for prop taxes.

Ah fugk whatever. Tried sifting through it twice. Shrugs

One only has to look at others around them in their horizon at the people that vote for Liberal Socialist Democrats.

That's who cause things like this.
" friends" family, neighbors, Co workers...

Even giving them feigned respect or attention is playing into and enabling them.

In case no one has noticed.
Ya gotta pick a side now and know who your enemies are..
It might come in useful some day down the line....

Good luck trying to talk to Senator John Fetterman, aka Mr. Carhartt. He can't put a complete sentence together.

One problem PA has is fudd democrats who live in red counties but are so union minded they can't see the forest for the trees, and vote poorly. Your cave man senator is a prime example.

Thankfully, fetterman has no say in the matter, unless he is passing bribes to PA state senators.

At least 2 of you are aware of reality, Fetterman means nothing to the PGC..... he's from/lives a chiithole little town in Pittsburgh.

The PGC has made a mess of our wildlife, too many tags and too long of seasons...especially 2B and other special areas. Throw in antler point restrictions, and 6 does per hunter....and you have a hot mess.

Having been born and raised in PA, and having gained quite a bit of learning there, the current state of PA politics/government is astounding. The root of the problems has to be the current populace - any citizenry that would elect a Fetterman is capable of accepting, even supporting, rotten government. Self flagellation. Very sad.

As has been stated ad nauseum, the state is mostly red but its impossible to overcome the blind dem votes (and cheating) in Philtydelphia, and its white guilt liberal burbs, urban cesspools in Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, and the "academic" libs in State College as well as the stupid union dem voters statewide!

No, you got it right.

You just aren't focused yet.

Historically game lands aren't taxed. You can't tax the taxes.
DOT trucks don't pay fuel taxes either.

This bill takes 60% of the cash stash in one shot, makes the PGC
ineligible for $40 million from PR Act funds, and forces the payment of taxes on 1.5 million acres bought by sportsman, owned by the stand alone PGC.

It's a beautiful thing I gotta admit, but evil.
Like a yellow phase rattler after shedding.

Strip the cash, inhibit income, increase expenses.

Greenness get money.
License fees will skyrocket. Hunters drop out, programs fail.
Legislature gets control of PGC.

And the land along with its revenue.

If passed, PA will be like Texas.
You can hunt anywhere you can afford.

Hell you've got Carnegie Mellon, Pitt U, Duquesne U, and Robert Morris College in Pittsburgh alone.

You bring up the unions.
I'm glad.

This article was in the paper this week.

I'm not about to defend everything union, heck anything.

We gotta fight, keep fighting.
