Used to be a camping/hunting staple.

Open can 7/8 way with P38, fold lid up as a handle, heat right on the fire. No dirty pot to wash, rinse off spoon with beer or beverage of choice.

Adding a cup of decent red wine makes it drinkable.

Good Ol’ Dinty….saved my Dad once when they planned on having deer liver for dinner… they found it was full of liver flukes 😳. Everyone was grabbing a can!

Not terrible, but not nearly as good as almost anyone can make from most of the plethora of recipes available on the net.

I'd much rather eat chicken tamales from Hormel than any other heat and eat canned meat product that I can think of.

If you inherited a few cans from your father, you should probably eat them and get new ones to pass on to your kids.

It was introduced by Hormel even before Spam. It's known for having a long shelf life. I'd call it ordinary. It's good but not gourmet.
Look at it this way: the quality of the food is directly proportional to the distance from the road.

Deer camp dinner many times.

Doesn't taste as good as it used to. Either a declining product quality or a more refined palate.

I don't know about Dinty Moore, but Wolf chili sure isn't what was back when Dad and I used the split a can with a sleeve of saltines.

Total crap. Mostly potatoes, carrots, and starch as a thickener. I don't know what the "beef" is made of, but highly processes chunks of beef product of some kind.

Yeah, I seem to remember it being halfway decent when I was a kid.

I also noticed a difference in taste-texture-quality. Maybe it coincides with discontinued use of mustang meat. 🥲
