Had my 457 out yesterday, looking for a practice load to stand in for the RWS SSHP it’s sighted in with. The surprise winner was good ol’ SV. It grouped as well or better than Club, Aguila SV, even some Tenex Pistol I had laying around. It also landed about an inch directly above the RWS. A final bonus was that there was no seasoning required when switching back and forth between the two. All loads were tested after at least 10 seasoning rounds.
Two I didn’t try were Quiet and Quiet Auto. They’ll get a chance soon, and I have a bunch.
The RWS stayed on a 100 yard benchrest square. The three final groups, two 5-shot, and a 10-shot measured right at 5/8” at 50. That’ll do for squirrels. Scope is a Burris 6x AO mini.
What fresh Hell is this?

Anybody shoot the Springfield 2020 rimfire classic? A good looking gun with the AAA wood.
Midway has the AA wood in stock for $839, which doesnt seem like a bad price if the gun shoots. Cant imagine that it wont. Personally, I have a pair of Winchester 75 Sporting 22's one with a plainish stock and the other with some nice fiddleback. Both shoot 1/2" at 50 yds with a vintage Weaver J4 scope. Dont need another but that Springfield AAA shure is pretty. Quite a few reports of mediocre accuracy from the Springfield. A simple search...
Conduct is the best proof of character.

I finally found one I could live with. I looked at about everything mentioned in the thread and couldn't find an Annie that I liked and could afford. Kimber 82G cut to 19+ and inlet in a Varminter stock. Hope it shoots! Thanks for all the suggestions. and info. Can anyone identify this stock for me?

Tikka T1X worth a look, they win a lot of ARA Factory class matchs round here. Sub $600. A friend of mine just bought a T1X MTR for shooting NRL22 (I'm using a B14R) and it shoots very, very well. Every ammo we tried was around .5" at 50 yards, with the good stuff, turning in .2s and .3s. The trigger is extremely good. The factory support is there for stocks accessories etc. SOME of Tikkas shoot that well. Not all of them do. Mine did OK with good ammo, but it went down the road in a year. I could not tolerate the poor ejection system, magazine and firing pin designs- all three of which failed within the first 1,000 rounds. I have owned over 100 rimfire bolt guns in the last 45 years . Several of them were Sako p72, m78 and p94 rifles ,so I definitely know the Finns can build a really good rifle if they want to. My Tikka T1x was the FIRST rimfire rifle I have ever owned that broke it's firing pin. And Beretta's customer service was no help when I needed it. The pin failed because the forward portion is build LIKE A SEWING NEEDLE compared to other modern rimfire bolt action firing pins. Tikka and Beretta should be ashamed of some of the basic design flaws in the T1x. They are all unforced errors on what could have truly been a world beating rifle. CZ 457s win a lot of matches too. And they actually function long term as repeaters without breaking down due to basic design flaws.. Dry firing causes the pins to break in the T1X, the original wire ejector works fine, the new type with fixed ejector will eject ok but does not feed well.

Dont need another but that Springfield AAA shure is pretty. I bought a used one with the basic wood, the wood was better than I would expect for a standard grade. The rifle was used and the seller was honest about it's accuracy. It was within the standards that Springfield advertises, 1 inch at 50 yards with quality ammo and an experienced shooter, not exactly a confidence inspiring guaranty. Well with some ammo it kept that standard. After nearly 6 decades of shooting I may be an experienced shooter, but then my eyes are not what they used to be. I am working on trying to get the rifle to shoot better. The bedding was questionable. Decent at front of action, but the back of the action has the round receiver resting on a flat section of wood. I also bore scoped the barrel and there were plenty of machining marks left on the lands. I'm not overly impressed with the rifle but then I paid considerably less than retail.
