I doubt you will find someone that will checker the front strap as it is very thin which is why you see them stippled. Alex Hamilton (Ten-Ring Precision) has been working on them for decades.I have used him numerous times as he is local to me.

Behlert Precision also does Hi Powers. I've seen some of their work in times past. His son has the business now. Don't know about the quality of the work since Austin retired (or passed on?).
I've got a Girsan HP out to a local guy who's swapping out a "stylish" straight trigger for a C&S wider trigger, that has the natural curve to it (which always fit me well). If he can make the pull a little lighter/crisper, that would be good, too.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.

'Nother option, and the one I took for my SA-35, is putting skate board tape on the front strap.
Feels as good as hand cut checkering and is WAY cheaper!

I never cared for the stippling treatment. Knew a guy who would checker the front strap if he was in the mood, but he cut them like 50lpi to keep from getting too deep. My good friend, who is an engraver came up with a slick solution to the issue. He engraves a crosshatch pattern and in the center of each diamond he uses a tool he made up to form a small rasp tooth. They can be dulled before finishing if you like, I left mine sharp. The sights any decent pistolsmith with a mill should be able to handle. I used HP sized Novaks though some guys cut them for the 1911 sized sights. Put on a C&S safety if you want the larger paddle. And the C&S sear, hammer, and springs finish it off. I never found the C&S connector to be worth the time, YMMV.

My solution was this that Alex above tweaked some. It seems to shoot as well as I do.
