Have a JM stamped 450 marlin GG. Not a huge fan of the straight stock. Curious on what it would take to swap over to pistol grip stock? Parts available to do this? Thanks

You’ll need the bottom tang and buttstock off a pistol grip model. It would be more cost effective to find someone wanting to go the other way and do a swap.

I found what I needed on ebay to switch this 444T over to pistol grip. As I recall it wasn't all that pricey. Everything came from a 336 model.

And, if you want to sell that straight lever and bottom tang I'm calling dibs. Hit me up.

Search "Marlin lever rifle parts" on ebay

Everything you need to convert one is the first two posts at this moment, total of $180 plus the shipping. Stock, lever, trigger plate w/trigger.

Will the 336 stock and trigger plate/trigger work on my 1895 gg?

I replaced the big loop lever on my 1895 with a regular 336 lever from a 30-30. It's been a while but I don't recall any issues. The trigger plates are all the same 336/375/444/1895, only difference is either straight stock or pistol grip. The stock will "fit", but as Marlins go, it may not be a perfect fit with zero gaps where it meets the receiver, but it will be functional.

And yeah, if the price is right I'll take that straight lever and trigger plate off your hands. I'll put it up so after they plant me in the ground my son can switch the 444T back to the straight stock the way he likes. I used that lever and trigger plate on a 375 re-bore I'm putting together, so I need the extra parts.

I believe it will....but as mentioned the stock fit to receiver may not be perfect

The ole Marlin employees in CT knew their stuff on fit/finish

Look around over here at 'Marlin Owners'

Yes, 1971 made, stamped 444T.

I halfway looked into it and some say T is for Texan. I dunno for sure.

Came to me with a straight grip raised comb stock and straight lever. 24" barrel with shorter mag tube, and a fold down rear sight. Hated the feel of it overall so converted it to pistol grip. My son liked it as original so he can put it back someday after I hand it over to him.
