Has anyone worked up a 130gn cup and core load to mimic flight characteristics of the 130gn TTSX for 200-300yd plinking?

Probably no help but i used a Hornady Spire point 130gr for years in a 30.06 but not for plinking i actually deer hunted with it and harvested a truck load of deer with that bullet. The one i used was a #3020 and i don't think they're made anymore. I recall they shot extremely well with 52grs of IMR4064. The Sierra 125gr PH may be another one to look at. I'm sure those TTSX's get pretty expensive for plinking.

Yes a good bullet for it's light weight, that was somewhat under the radar. Hornady's been making a bad habit of dropping some good bullets lately.

To the OP, the .308 Speer 130 gr HP is a cheap bullet that has been accurate for me. Midway has them right now for $22 a box. Have seen them on sale for as cheap as $16. Not a deer bullet at all, but at that price you could try them to see if they hit close to the TTSX.

Not .308, but .30-06. 130 gr Hornady over 59 gr Big Game, mag primers is a real WT killer at around 3,100 fps. Whacks’em hard with good exits. Quick kills.

125 gr NAB and NBT also work well. A good .308 load with any of those bullets are good deer killers.

47g of tac makes it print very very close to 47g of tac with the 130ttsx in my 700.

No experience with a 130gr, but one of my favorite bullets for target shooting inside 300 yards is the 110gr VMAX. I use H335, even though it isnt listed in my Hornady reloading manual. I gave them a call and asked why it wasn't listed, and the technician said it's a perfectly good powder and agreed it should be included.

Can't remember what powder weight I used...I'll have to revisit, because it was a great shooting bullet!

So, what makes these so lauded? How do they perform upon impact?

Well, they just work. Terminal performance is outstanding.

Actually, interview was with Adam, not Ed.

Adam’s an interesting guy for President of a major arms mfg co. His degree is in theology and he served as a youth minister for a number of years before joining the company.

That’s pretty unique. I’d say he’s the real deal. Seems to be a nice young man. Kudos for them getting out of CA.

The Speers would be the cheap solution, and would be close enough for plinking.
Knew someone who used them for deer. Broadside shots. No exit, and entrance hole the size of a softball.

I've never loaded these in a .308, but it's what I use for cheap plinking ammo in my 300Blk. It's a pretty sizable hollow point actually, but they do shoot well.
