As far as their standard offerings go, which do you think is better? Not talking about their higher end stuff. My nod goes to Evan Williams, I think it's way tastier than Jim Beam.
I'm aware there's better Bourbons available.

I’ve been drinking EW bottled in bond, it’s pretty good especially for the price. Im not very well educated on the various qualities/tastes of bourbon. I’ll bet you’ll get many different ideas on the subject.

I like black label Evan Williams. It used to be cheap, but now the price is creeping up there with some of the previously more expensive offerings.

Before I gave up alcohol (for health reasons) I tended to favor Jim Bean of the two. I have a friend, now in his 90’s, who can afford any damn whiskey he would want who goes through a lot of Evan Williams. A lot. He used to poke fun at his “gentleman’s gentleman” (yes, he has that kind of money) for “wasting his money” on premium bourbons.
I can’t imagine that you will start a bourbon thread that will remain limited to those two. Before this is over you’ll hear about bourbons you never heard of.

I like both, they both make a cherry bourbon. So either one is fine by me.

Jim Beam is the Bud Light of bourbon. Overrated and nasty.
Now with even more aplomb

Beam here, although I buy Evan by the half gallon as well. It is oakier than Beam.
To stay more to the OP question, black label Beam is my favorite.

I don't like bourbon, but my wife's pick is Jim Beam Black. Problem is, the base Class VI store is always out of it - that says something right there. Dozens of other kinds with full shelves. One big emptiness where the JB Black should be.

Evan Williams by a mile. Although, Wild Turkey Rare Breed is my favorite.

Never liked EW Tried it and tried it and just couldn't develop a like for it. Not that white label Beam is a fav, but I'd choose it over EW every time.
