Just wondering . I have the plastic ones on my 22 HP takedowns and steel on the 1940-1956 ones and that’s all I’ve seen or read about. I wonder why savage put heavy steel ones on the 99f ? Heavy!

The late A prefix'd and B SN 99Fs also had aluminum butt plates (1971-72ish); those late ones also did not have a barrel boss.

99C is listed with aluminum a couple of years(1969-1970), the 99DE and 99PE are also listed with them.

Were the aluminum buttplates straight where they meet the stock?
