I am curious if anyone who has a Boyd Encore forend has ever needed to shorten either of the screws. The threaded portion is .75 inches long. Add the head and they are about .900 inches. I had to take off .25 of an inch to get everything to fit properly.

No problem there. I guess whoever countersunk this forend went too deep. Because of that, the forend was loose. It wasn't a big deal, but I was surprised. I have never experienced this from Boyds.

That said, I got the scope on and am ready to form 22 K-Hornet cases.

Not on the Boyd's. But I've run into that problem with other projects. Good old Dremel with a cut off wheel. Had to use it on base screws more than a few times.

Thanks guys. After I got everything worked out, I took it out to get the scope zeroed. It shoots!

Very nice Steve. What optic did you put on it?

Thanks. I used an inexpensive Athlon Talos 4x16 Mildot. It was on two other centrefires - a 7.62x54r and a 30-303. Between the three rifles, a lot of lead has gone downrange with no problems from the scope.
