I've wanted a Mdl 41 for many years, I finally purchased one. It's serial no. is 952XX which puts it in the 1966-8 era I believe. It has a few hickeys but still in pretty good condition. It was fired enough to get pretty dirty but I doubt even 1000 rounds have been through it. I have the original box but no paperwork and two mags. It has the extended front sight option.

Did a quick clean and lube and it fired both magazines fully loaded without issue.

My favorite .22LR pistol also.
I switch barrels back and forth depending on my mood.

I've never fired one, but what I've heard and read about them leads me to think I'd like one. Congrats on a great find.

I am bidding on several right now.

Been wanting one since the early 80s. Finally going to scratch that itch. Will probably screw up and end up with at least two!!

That one looks like it has a 5” sporter barrel.

Superb gun, any way you slice it. I’ve only shooting them for 46 years. Haven’t seen any .22 auto I like better.

Never met an early 41 owner that did not love them. They do well with pistol match type ammo.

The heavy barrel extended front sight version is hard to find and collectible. Also a great set-up for bullseye.

1911a1: I have also been a long time admirer and occasional shooter of my friends S&W Model 41's.
Finally this past summer I found a 1977 vintage (Serial # A440,XXX) MINT condition Model 41 in an estate sale and bought it for my collection.
It has the 5 1/2" barrel and has the cocking indicator.
I doubt I will ever shoot this one but its there if I need to.
Enjoy your "41" and let us know about the accuracy you obtain.

I took it out last Wednesday but it took to long to get another rifle sighted in and I had to check the zero on the rifle I'm using for deer season.
Ran out of time to shoot the Smith 41.

Thanks for the comments and I will only use standard velocity ammo. Don't won't to beat it to death. Changing the springs so it MIGHT not hurt it to shoot High velocity is not worth it to me. I have lots of other 22 pistols to use.

41s can be fussy about ammo, but once you find the round it likes, it's a great pistol. Both of the below pistolas are superb shooters. I use Eley Tenex in mine.

The 7" 41 below has BoMar sights installed by the FT Benning AMU shop when I was in the Army Marksmanship Unit. The new 41s seem to shoot quite well.

I've had a couple Smith 41s in the past of the older type quite excellent shooters and like a dummy somebody offered me too much money I felt like so I no longer own them.. if I'd known then what gun values were going to do especially the older Smith stuff I would have held on to them for another 10 years anyway.. this is been probably 10 or 12 years ago I give like $650 a piece for them then turned around and sold them in 6 months or so for like $1,200 a piece very nice shape but definitely used and no box.
