Have been contemplating a new 22 wmr rifle and scope. Was looking online and found a Bushnell Banner2 4-12 x 40 at Natchez on sale for $40. Never had a Bushnell and my expectations are tempered . Will I get the best deal ever or just get what I payed for ? Will find out in about a week. This will just be for fun ( range and plinking ) so hoping it will perform adequately. Any of you folks have this scope ?

My bud bought a cheap Banner for his 22 many years ago. It has been nothing short of spectacular. He dials the piss out of it. I have had really good results with cheap scopes on rimfires when used in a set and forget capacity. These are the true Natchez scope bargains if you are willing to buy Chinese stuff. https://www.natchezss.com/clearance...e-28-10x44-1-sfp-truplex-illum-black-box

My Christmas 1967 581 wore a Banner 1-4 for many, many years. The rubber ring on the eyepiece cracked and fell off, but I put one of those slip-ons over it and soldiered on until cloudy view, largely due to cleaning with my shirt, made me replace it. Now it has a Trophy XLT 1-75-4 shotgun scope that cost maybe $60. This one is either made in the Philippines or Korea. I’ve had both. Circle-X reticle with a fine center.
What fresh Hell is this?

You'll get $40 worth if lucky.

The banners are cheap and delicate. Have had them on 22's in the past (when I was a kid). One only lasted a day, took it back to the store and exchanged it for another one. You get what you pay for, and $40 isn't much.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

If you’re recovering from the financial shock of a new rifle purchase, the Banner will probably carry you for a while, but a decent rifle rates a decent scope.
My sons and I have had excellent service from the 4-12 Trophy XLTs, but I think they’re gone now, or made someplace other than Japan. No idea about the new ones. $300 will get you a rock-solid SWFA 6x, and Black Friday is just around the corner to boot.
