I bought this stock here on the fire earlier this month. I finally found the time to get out in the shop and install my old 338 in it. I learned two things.
1 - The original stock on the 338 (Rem 700 ADL Stainless) appears to be a Kevlar stock, lending credence to the report I saw about this rifle being an early Mtn rifle. (I'd always thought it was an injection molded tupperware stock)
2 - This rifle and I have been through a lot together, and I really can't see changing a thing about it. (well maybe an R3 recoil pad) My old 338 has its share of nicks and dings, and stained places on the barrel. I can't see putting it in this beautiful stock.
So I've decided to put the McMillan stock back up for sale, first $450 takes it. And I have a set of LA BDL Stainless bottom metal, floorplate, mag box, follower & spring, stock screws, that I'll sell for $85.
