Never fails: Every time I bring the shotgun, I see elk; every time I bring the rifle, I see grouse. Does anybody manufacture a new .308/20 ga combo gun? I used to think that Krieghoff made them for about $5K, which is a lot for me, but I don't see it on their website anymore. Don't particularly want to change calibers. Anybody here got a used one they want to sell? Thanks in advance!

You won't find a good one for under a LOT OF $$$.

If you can live with a 12ga there are many more options. You no doubt prefer a light and trim 20/308, and if you pony up you can have one made, a Ferlacher by custom shops in Austria. There's also a year or three wait.

I was warned, but I am here anyway.

I would prefer a light and trim gun, and it looks like Blaser might be the way to go. Thanks, gentlemen.

What do you all think of this as an elk/grouse gun?:

Here is the most accurate and best BBF for the money. I have it's twin. I also have an extra Sako type scope mount for one that works well as a QD mount.

If you decide that a 12ga would work for you, I'd watch the bidding for this gun. Note that it has cleaned up rust spots. They're in common spots for the Valmet guns.

I had the 2400 great gun but I always had the itch for a 30-06 gun ---like this>You can always use a chamber insert to reduce to 20ga.

The big problem with these is a scope mount that is proprietary. They now cost around $300.00 and are hard to find. The earlier and slightly different 2400s use the common Sako system, common and less than 1/2 the price of the ones for the 412 type mounts.

Every time I've tried a combination gun in the last 40 years it screws me up somehow. LOL

Couple days ago I went grouse hunting but it's deer season so I took the BRNO 22HP/12 gauge. Pouring rain.

I don't shoot 12 gauge for grouse but I wanted to be able to shoot a deer if I saw one, dammit. How do you miss a broadside buck at 75 yards 22 HP that shoots great and a grouse sitting on a limb with a 12 gauge? So, I missed a buck and a grouse. That's pretty much my experience with every combo gun I've ever tried. Misfires, oh and I shot a nice blacktail with #6 shot once. One disaster after another.

I'm thinking about giving up on the multi-purpose gun altogether and shooting grouse with the .284 or 7 mag from now one.

I have a few Valmets, was not interested in the $300 mounts. Found a place in Finland, shipped to me for a lot less:

They have gone up a bit since I bought but not much. Superb quality.

Be sure it works before you leave the FFl that does the transfer.

AS near as I can tell at this time, this is an older Luxus Grade Blaser BBF95, 12 gauge over 308Win, as it has the fox/ducks engraving on one side and the roe deer on the other.

Comes with a 222 Rem insert for the 12 ga. barrel.

A 12 ga. slug over a 308 Win. should be the ticket for hogs!

I went 5 for 6 on quail with it this morning, and the cape gun barrel set shoots the 8X57IR three shots right at an inch if I cool the barrels between shots. The 2 1/2-8 scope is a store re-branded S&B.

My stepson wanted to buy it recently but was short on funds, so I decided to keep it. The gun is bank vault tight and unmolested except for the recoil pad and scope added. It's unique in that it's a two-barrel Pre War set that hadn't been thrown on a pile in the streets and had the barrel set separated.

BSW was the last true Simson incarnation, before the Nazis stole the business and plant and branded them Gustloff Werke.

That Blaser BBF is a great combo, especially with the full length 222 einstecklauf. It's a more useful insert than my 22 Hornet was that resided in my Kreighoff Trumpf drilling. I sold the Hornet to a guy in PA who is dying of cancer; he wanted it, and I had no use for it really. Made him happy.

What make is it? Zimmerman?

That looks like a super mount for the 412 guns and clones, and...it is an Optilock! cool cool
