A new kid on the block? Obviously with the longer stop notches. Did you ever have any problems with the non-endurance package S&W M29/629 when using heavy magnum loads?

Nope, Not new at all.
Been around for a long time, I just usually carry and use blued guns. Nope I don't have any problems, but I also don't shoot a whole lot of the heavy 300+ grain loads. Not for the sake of the guns, but for the longevity of my own wrists. Such heavy loads in lighter guns such as the 4" gun, when fired in large numbers tend to cause some damage to your hands and wrists over time. The guns are far easier to repair. Wrists and hands are not.

They get carried for protection, and hunting and stuff, and shot to confirm zero, but I don't pound hundreds of them downrange like I will the 240 grain loads.

And speed shooting full power loads, like the 240s is pretty good practice. I almost never see anyone do such things.

If you want to hit Yogi bear in the face, instead of just talk about it on the internet, you might want to practice shooting fast, under pressure.

Sage advice.

15 yards yesterday with some 240 grain hardcast SWCs.

I have this habit of shooting what might be a good group and toss one out, almost every time... It is a gift!

Had to clean the old 6.5" Model 29 today. It was past due, and a bit on the grungy side. Have had this gun for roughly 30 years now. Shooting 240 grain .44 Specials through it these days hunting rabbits and other small game (or deer for that matter) is always a treat.

Here is a pic of one of the central Idaho deputy sheriffs shooting his .44 practicing. He carries 1911 for a work gun, but he absolutely knows how to run a big bore revolver.

Here’s my little collection.

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

I guess the .44 mag is my favorite cartridge. And the S&W model 69 (bottom 3 in the photo) has become my favorite .44. It seems like the perfect handgun for carrying around in the woods for where I live.

That is a very nice collection of .44s for sure!

Plus based on where you are at, with the type of local wildlife I would say it is a great choice for an all around cartridge.

Fine looking Rugers there MT Jon,

It would take a few lifetimes to wear those two out!

Plus for a guy who lives in the land of massive Grizzly Bears, they are solid choices for revolvers.

Have any of you used the miniature scope bases for red dots on a 44 revolver? I think EGW makes it.

Here's an egw with trijicon footprint shown on a M69 L Frame .44 mag. This one only has one frame mounting screw - the newer ones have two https://www.egwguns.com/trijicon-rmr-sro-holosun-407c-507c-mount-for-s-w-revolver . Never had a problem but didn't shoot a lot of rounds with it mounted.

I have the Trijicon base for S&W that matches the D/T factory.
Works perfectly.

Thank you. Looks good. We're you more accurate with the dot than with irons?

That Bisley conversion is some kind of nice.
Sold my original F.T a few years ago. I thought it to nice to use, should have tucked it away.
