Has anyone on here sent an old McMillan stock back to have them repaint it? If so, how much did it cost? Turn around time?
I’m thinking I need to send back the all black Sako classic stock on a Tikka this year and have McMillan paint it a gray color with black speckles.

The price is on their website somewhere. I've not had them do one in several years, but recall it was expensive and took a long time. Johnboy here has better options, customer service, and price.

Before Kelly sold it was $100 retail and took a couple weeks or a bit more, and was worth it. Polane-T.

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I called them a few months ago about repainting a couple of stocks. It seems they said $60. I have o idea about the turn around time. Give them a call. Good luck! Rick

Anyone painted a Swirley stock a solid color? If so, does it hold the paint well?

Anyone painted a Swirley stock a solid color? If so, does it hold the paint well? From McM site: All of the molded-in Camo finishes below should be considered a utility-grade. Mold lines, sanding marks, fiberglass cloth grain and small imperfections may be visible. If you are dissatisfied with your camo finish you can choose to have us apply one of our painted finishes to your stock (additional fees may apply).

Please give a detailed explanation! memtb Maybe some of the guys that paint stocks here, should answer this.. Personally I don't like Krylon paint. There are finishes that are much more durable than Krylon. To each their own. Mcmillan finishes are hard to beat. As we all know, they are very durable. I've painted stocks to somewhat replicate what Mcmillan does, but if I had to pick one over the other, I'd just have Mcmillan paint it. Besides, the really good finishes are quite expensive when you include the hardener and reducer and clear. etc. etc..

I’ve painted about a dozen or more. Krylon with a matte clear has done well for me. It isn’t ideal, but I’d like to know why it is “horrible”.
