I'll tell you what's highway robbery, multiple firearm transfer fees on the same purchase. I'm buying 5 guns so you want $150 for one phone call? Is there something I don't know about firearm transfer? It seems like a decent gig, not real challenging.

Logging each individual firearm in/out of an FFL's records is the part that's time consuming and needs to be 100% accurate.

In Florida, the state only charges 4.00/transaction, yet some dealers charge as much as 100 bucks..

So like why do you buy guns that you have to do paper work on?

The the Turnpike charges 25 cents per mile, if you don't have a transponder and pre-pay them. jorgel, I thought the hogs here were bad @ $50. Place I go raised the prices front $12 to $25. That's fair for an outside transfer. They deserve to earn something for the service. I WILL NOT pay an add on fee if buying from them, some like to try that. All deals are done on a "cash out the door" basis.

In ten years I had on one man bitch, when he had 11 firearms come in and only wanted to pay $10 for the transfer of all of them. I told him to pick which one he wanted, because at $10 he was only getting one. We provided a service, have cost and labor to log all the firearms... He took him a week before he came back to get his firearms and pay the fee. He satated he would never be back... I thanked him for that, but he lied.

When you take guns in stock record all the info you need from the gun. Then for every sale have the customer put his info in a computer. Print out the forms filled out using a laser printer. Have the customer sign the forms and you mail it to the government. Straight forward and quick. Just need some software. Oh, and keep records on compute encrypted to protect customers.

The last time I had two come in to my FFL, He asked for $20 each. I insisted he take a fifty. I really appreciate that he waits for the little brown truck and takes care of my stuff for me.

Is that a California thing? Sending paper to the Government? Here the 4473 goes into a file and a call is made to NICS. Plus, of course, the dealer's bound book.

Unfortunately here it's different. The transfers are through a State Police thing. And they keep the records forever.
It has been challenged to the Supreme Court (on an equal protection challenge ?) They ruled that because everyone was treated the same, it was equal. (No idea why it wasn't a 2A challenge)

I thanked him for that, but he lied. If that dumbass had to do it himself, he'd realize the bargain you were giving with or without the CHL. I had a dealer I used for transfers who charged the same as you for a while and felt lucky to have found such a low fee when most were charging minimum $25 or more per transfer at the time.
