That losing a brother is harder than losing parents, but it seems to be the case.

That’ll be the case with me, when the time comes.
if a man speaks, and there isn't a woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?

I sought my soul, but my soul I could not see. I sought my god, but my god eluded me. I sought my brother, and I found all three.

I don't have a brother, but losing a sister was very tough. I suspect it's because we expect our parents are likely to go befoire us, a sibling, not so much.

I'm glad you boys have brothers you can count on, my brother has made it easy not to miss him when he's gone. I haven't talked to hm in 7 years.

The last time I saw/talked to my brother in person was at his son's wedding in 2017. Before that was at his wife's memorial service in April of 2016. He was a pain in my butt for 64 years before he passed in July, 2022. He and I didn't see much of anything eye to eye, ever. I didn't hate him at all, we just didn't get along. You know what they say, you can pick your friends but not your relatives. He was my brother, not my friend. I have an uncle, 10 months younger than I am, who has been more like a brother to me than my sibling was. Maybe sad, but that's the way it turned out. BTW - drugs and alcohol had a lot to do with our relationship . . . his use, not mine.
Sorry for your loss, lostleader. Condolences to you and your family.

I haven’t talked to my brother in probably 10 years, my daughter passed 2 years ago I contacted him through one of his ex wives, didn’t expect him to attend the service no a card or nothing, I won’t be sad when he passes, his only child doesn’t have any contact with him, some people you just get along with family or not.

Sorry for your loss.
I have four brothers and two sisters and I’m the oldest of this flock. We all get along just fine. Because of us living many miles apart, we don’t see each other often, maybe twice a year. I have some cousins that have not talked to their parents in many years. One of those parents died yesterday. It will be interesting to see I who attends the funeral.

I'm glad you boys have brothers you can count on, my brother has made it easy not to miss him when he's gone. I haven't talked to hm in 7 years. Sounds like my sister who lives in Tampa. She repeatedly sends me meaningless texts at 1, 2, even 3AM. We have an elderly friend who lives alone and has only us to call if she has trouble in the night, so turning off the phone isn't an option. I explain this to Sis, who's reply is "fine, I'll never speak to you again." This usually lasts for maybe a month, then the late night texts begin again. The last time, I again asked her to stop, and explained why, her reply was, and I quote, "You're an a**hole, just like Dad was." I'm officially done with her, and glad that she's a thousand miles away.

Siblings dying remind you of your own mortality. Parents are expected, siblings hit harder. This..... it's different when it moves into your own generation.
