The old 32 Specials are a lot of fun to reload for and hunt with. I have an old Marlin and it is very accurate. I like to use mine to fill doe tags and to shoot prairie dogs. I was surprised at the large wound channels it makes in deer. Royce

Here's my .32 special. I load 170 Speer FP, but can't remember the powder as my load info is at home and I'm at work. I know. I shouldn't be wasting my work time at 24, but it's kinda slow right now and I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather surf. It shoots better than a lever is supposed to shoot. It's a 1933 Win 64 carbine, if you don't recognize it. If it's supposed to shoot poorly when the barrel gets old, I'm still waiting. Fast Ed

Tell you what, Im in a good mood so feel free to send the old girl to me and I will giver her a good home for the fre years she has left. I mean, its common knowledge the .32 Win shoots like crap and gets worse with age so get that darn thing out of your safe while you still can! That gun is sweet!!!!!!!!!

I OWN A WINCHESTER 94 WRANGLER IT HAS A 16.1/2" BARREL HOOP LEVER AND ON THE RECEIVER SIDES IT HAS COWBOYS ON ONE SIDE WAGON SEENS ON THE OTHER AND A SADDLE RING. A NICE CARBINE. I RELOAD FOR THIS CARBINE AND FIND COMPONOENTS EASY TO FIND ONLINE ( www.midwayusa.com). I PURCHASED IT NEW ABOUT 27 YEARS AGO.IT'S AN ACCURATE CARBINE I ONLY USE IT FOR A BACK UP GUN WHEN HUNTING. YOU CAN RUN 30-30 BRASS THROUGH A WIN.32SPL. FULL SIZING DIE. AND YOU'LL HAVE WIN.32SPL.BRASS. IF YOU NEED INFO. ON RELOADING I'LL TRY TO HELP. GOOD LUCK.

MY OLDER BROTHER ONCE TOLD ME THAT YOU CAN SHOOT 30-30 WINCHESTER CARTRIDGES THROUGH A WINCHESTER 32SPL CHAMBERED BARREL. THIS CAN BE THE REASON WHY SO MANY WIN.32SPL. BARREL WEAR OUT, A 30-30 BULLET DIAMETER IS .308 AND A WIN.32SPL. IS .321. THE .308 BULLET FIRED IN A BARREL MEANT FOR A.321 DIAMETER BULLET WILL BOUNCE DOWN THE BARREL. MANY HUNTER WHO OWNED A WIN,32SPL WHEN WIN,32SPL CARTRIDGES WERE NOT AVAILABLE PROBABLY USED 30-30 CARTRIDGES CAUSING SO MANY BARRELS TO GO BAD. ALSO THE WIN.32SPL. WAS DIVELOP IN IT'S TIME TO USE SMOKLESS AND BLACK POWDER AND IF YOU DON'T CLAEN THE RIFLE AFTHER SHOOHING WITH BLACK POWDER IT'LL PIT THE BARREL OUT.

What I said was just a theory. Do you have an explenation, a simple wrong will not do. Well do you have another theory? Lets face it a barrel doesn't go bad just because of the inside diameter of it's bore

The 32 Special has a 1 in 16 twist, but the Winchester rifles in .30-30 have a 1 in 12, and the Marlin rifles 1 in 10. The proponets of the 32-wears-out-to-quick theory claim this happens because of the slower twist needing less wear to become inaccurate.

Well thank you for your reply at lest it was a reasonable explanation. As I said, if you read what I said, it was just a theory and no more. Thank you.

I'm still not sure if the theoy of 1 in 16" twist rifling is the reason why win.32spl. barrel go bad as Youper explanation. I thank Youper for the reasonable theoy. BUT looking at the Marlin 336 in Rem.35 it's twist is 1 in 16" in todays modle. Has anyone known of a Marlin 336 Rem.35cal. gone inaccurate because of the rifling twist wear like the win.32spl. I do'nt compare calibers to explain one particular one with another, ever though the win.30-30 & the Win.32spl. look identical and both use 170gr. bullet weight and to my understanding it's ballisicly the same. The win.32spl (.321)diameter is larger than the 30-30(.308)and the rem.35cal. is .358 diameter, All three are different and shouldn't be compared. But if you must, well how? by caliber or by rifling twist.

As bullet diameter decreases, or bullet lenght grows, or velocity decreases as faster twist is needed to stabilize the bullet. I have expierience with exactly one rifle chambered for this cartridge. The rifleing is not worn, and its accuracy equals my .30-30. Could someone please provide us with a link to twist rate calculator? 1 in 16 is borderline for the 32 Winchester Special according to the calculator I used to have a link to.

According to the Lee Program I have the min twist for the 32 spcl is 1/17.2" This is with a Hornady FP that I measured at 0.915" in lenght. Keep inmind the twist rate is based on bullet lenght and the 32 spcl uses flat point bullets. Longer SP or RN bullets may require a faster spin....

I don't know if anyone can provide us with a mathematics that can explain why the win. 32spl. becomes inaccurate beside the barrel just wearing out. I strongly do not believe it is because of the twist and only the twist. I believe if a bullet needs a faster or slower twist to perform well and fired out of a barrel with a twist that can't provide what it needs will only be deficient at it target and not the reason why the barrel/twist wear out . And right away my friends old 35 marlin with a 1 in 16 twist hits the target on the monney just like me old win. 32spl. useing hornady FH, speer FH 170gr. bullets. Hi how about the new Hoenady win. 32spl Leverevolution Velocity (fps) / Energy (ft-lbs) Muzzle 100 yd 200 yd 300 yd 400 yd 500 yd 2400/2046 2150/1643 1916/1304 1699/1025 How about that to wake up your old win. 32spl. It puts it in the 300 savage class.

I wish Lee made an inexpensive mold for the .32 WS.
