I paid $90 at BIG5 sporting goods store in 2001 It sold for $370 at pawn shop 2023 over a period of between zero and 3 months.
The 98/22 Mauser increased in value at 6.6% compounded annually.
As a rule of thumb, Gold, guitars, and guns go up at 3%.
Exceptions: a) Colt revolvers go up at 6% b) Mossberg bolt action 16 gauge shotguns go up at 0%
The 98/22 Mauser increased in value like a Colt revolver.

$370 is what I got paid in cash. The pawn shop gets $25 on long guns under $400 and $35 on handguns. Above $400 the pawn shop gets a percentage. So the sale price on the rifle was $370 for me, + $25 for the pawn shop, +6.5% WA sales tax of $25.68 = $420.68 out the door
I paid $98 with tax out the door in 2001 The buyer paid $420.68 out the door in 2023 ---------------- 6.8% per year compounded increase in customer cost.

Was buying user grade pre-Garcia Sakos in the 90s.
7 SKS for a Sako? 4 AK-47s? I'd trade them for that now, then sell the commie guns. Probably use it to buy more Sakos!🤪
How I wish I had ignored them and bought crates of SKSs and AK-47s. And 7.62/5.56 ammo by the ammo box full.
Or powder, bullets and primers. $12 boxes of bullets, pound of powder, brick of primers!

Now my question is what are the dumb fu ckatf going to say since you made a pretty big profit from the sale? I'm hoping they don't start pushing that dumb schidt.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

Your $98 dollar rifle would be $168.64 in today's inflated dollar but, still better than putting it in stocks.

I bought a Mex/FN 98 intermediate carbine at a show. I thought I overpaid at $325. (7-8 years ago)
Also bought a Peruvian that was arsenal rechambered to 30/06 .
Little did I know that these were rare. looks like a 98/22 was only made for 2-3 years.
