I'm looking for a 20 gauge semiauto shotgun for my kid in left hand. I'd like to keep the price around 500 or less. Let me know what you have that is close?
Thanks!

I was recently in the same boat. Kept an eye out for months before biting the bullet and ordering one of the new left hand Franchi Affinity 3's in 20 gauge. I have a brother in law with an FFL, so that helps a little on the cost. I think they can be had for $850 at several of the big box outdoor stores.

At that price point you are going to be limited. Maybe a Tri-Star? MAYBE a Remington 1100? Consider an Ithaca 37 20 gauge or Browning BPS with bottom ejection.
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night because rough men stand at the ready to do violence on their behalf.

Sucks being a southpaw with firearms and even worse if you're a kid and/or a girl. I know it's a unicorn but I figured one of y'all might have something in the corner of the safe. This is basically a tryout gun as I don't know if there will be a buy in from my kid. I hope so, and will be springing for something nicer in the future if an interest is garnered.

Just a few thoughts…I shoot left-handed and shoot a Beretta 390, Franchi Affinity, and a Benelli. All 3 are right-hand models that have the safety reversed for a left handed shooter. I personally have never had a problem shooting that way. A right-handed gun might work for you. I’d borrow one and have him shoot it. That said, depending on size and if he’s a novice shooter, proper stock fit is so important you might want to start with a youth model if needed and consider a pump. The Browning BPS is a great option for a lefty since it has a tang safety and bottom eject. Might not find that in a 20 for $500. Another option for a starter might be a basic Mossberg 500 which also has a tang safety but right-hand eject. I don’t think I’d invest in a gun unless I found a model that fit him well and that he was happy to shoot.

I'm a lefty, I bought an escort 20ga youth model for a turkey gun reversed the safety. 6 lbs gas operated so low recoil. Was $300 2 yrs ago.

They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

At that price range, you're looking at a Hatsan Escort or a Charles Daly 600.

I’m a lefty and have left handed Benelli and Remington 1100 but I also have Browning Gold and I had a Remington 1187 with safety reversed and I had no problems. I mostly hunt now with over and unders which might be something to consider

One issue not mentioned yet is fit. Many shotguns have a right hand cast. If you can’t find a true lefty, try to find one with a neutral cast or maybe even one you can order a LH stock for.
Good luck, I live in this same world!
