SK Long Range Match is being considered.

Any other suggestions for accurate 22 RF 100 yard ammo??

The SK Rifle Match would also be a good low cost contender for 100yds. The SK Long Range Match is even okay out to 200yds.

RWS Rifle match has worked OK for me at 100 yards. But if you want some good info, check out this link - 50 at 100 and search for your candidates:

There is no one answer. Buy a box or two from the best makers and see how it goes.

Try using standard velocity not high velocity. A lot of guys in our gun club use CCI standard velocity, although I have not had any luck with it.

Thanks for the links Tom. A lot of information to process.

My 22 RF rifle is a BSA Supersport 5 wearing a 3.5-10 power scope. This dandy full size bolt action is every bit as accurate as the BSA Century target version. For the sake of saying so, my go to hunting ammo are the CCI 36 gr. Mini Mag bullets.

I'm curious - what modern long distance ammo do you all shoot in your older BSA Martinis or Century models which should have similar sized chambers as the SS-5?

The prized Wolf 22 RF ammo is unavailable and the price would be out of the question.

According to SK websites:

The SK Long Range Match was developed for demanding .22 LR enthusiasts routinely acquiring targets out to 100 meters / yards and beyond. SK Long Range is purpose-built for today’s long range rimfire shooting disciplines ever-increasing in popularity, such as PRC, tactical rimfire, long range silhouette and more. Match grade ammo you can rely on in any situation.

VS:

SK Rifle Match is a rimfire competition round which delivers excellent accuracy and winning performance. It is a high-performance rimfire cartridge especially developed for rifle shooting in all 50 meter disciplines.

Specifically designed for shooting at different distances.

Try standard velocity from CCI, you might get lucky.

Otherwise start trying them all.....

FWIW the ammo I see by far on the firing line at Ridgway, PA silhouette matches is SK Match. I haven't noticed any SK Long Range Match in attendance, but that doesn't mean no one's using it. I think the reason SK Match predominates is because of a balance between accuracy and cost - not necessarily the most accurate stuff out there but its cost is affordable to those guys who shoot tons of ammo in practice and competition.

Bert, to answer your question I do most all my match work with BSA Martinis - an International MKI and a pre-war Model 12. My ammo of choice for them is Eley Tenex which makes them sing. Lesser Eley shoots ok but not as well as Tenex, pretty much on par with SK, and the like. I read somewhere that Eley ammo is tailored to BSA match chambers, don't know if true, could be internet wive's tales.

I just shoot whatever groups best at 50. If it doesn’t group well at 50, it won’t at 100, and at 50 it’s easier to deal with the wind so it doesn't skew your results.

Mule Deer, and others that know stuff, say that if you’re not using wind flags for your testing, you’re pissing into the wind……

Adjusting your scope for parallax matters too.

The SK Rifle Match would also be a good low cost contender for 100yds. The SK Long Range Match is even okay out to 200yds.

What is the difference between the two?

The SK LRM is ever so slightly faster than the SK RM but still subsonic. I don't know what this means but my Anschutz will shoot the RM better at 100yards and the LRM better at 200yards. That's the way it is. (I have just enough elevation adjustment on my scope for the LRM at 200yards, but not for the RM.)

Eley Match, Eley Tenex and Lapua Biathalon shoot good at all distances I've tried, but they cost a bit more.

The SK LRM is good value - it works well also in a couple of CZs I've seen at the range, and even a Vudoo.

I sometimes shoot a 200yd rimfire match down here, so the Tenex or Biathalon is used, otherwise the SK LRM is my go to for 200yd practice.

+1

I've been meaning to buy some more to give it a go at 200yds but haven't found any. I think the last lot I got was priced less than the Eley Match but comparable accuracy.

Wolf Match Extra was purportedly SK Rifle Match, and Match Target was Standard Plus.

Thx for that post Sandy.

So then I won't be far off the mark with a couple of bricks of SK Long Range Match and a couple more CCI Standard 40 gr. that's being shipped as we speak. smile
