Picked up a used Randall model 8. Sharpening with. Lansky at 20 degrees. The bevel on one side is much sharper than the other. And yes I’m sure I’m using the same 20 degrees on bothe sides. I marked it with a sharpie to highlight the difference. Uneven grind?

A lot of angles going on there with that blade, I'd do it by hand.

Not in the same class as your Randall, but I have a Mooremaker fixed blade knife with the same problem. I think the cutting edge is not centered with the top edge. The Lansky Sharpener indexes along the top edge. I use mine like it is and will reshape by hand on a stone eventually. Not a big deal with a $75.00 knife but a Randall?

Your photos are bad but it is probably the grind on each side that is asymmetric.

It is very easy for a Lansky to shift once it is clamped to the blade. I always sight down the blade to make sure that the Lansky is mounted correctly on the blade and not leaning to one side or the other. I look at it from the handle end and then from the point. It has to be centered on the blade. I then put a drop of superglue where the clamp and blade meet on both sides and then wait for it to dry before sharpening. This keeps the clamp from shifting to one side which would cause the problem you are experiencing.

I've had a bunch of Randalls over the years and still have more than I need. I've never seen one with a grind off as far as yours would appear to be. I'd sure check the Lansky to be sure it was centered on the blade. If its leaning even a little, it will shift the grind on the edge.

If you send it back to Randall they will touch it up for you. They are very accommodating.
