I haven't handled either one, but for a bit more coin I think I would be looking at the Rapide series.

This is what I’m picking up tomorrow from frontier outfitters. A bit more than the Kimber but I’ll abide.

My son picked up a camp guard and after the 1st range session it was obvious it needed professional help!! A real beauty but not dependable without some work done on it,,,,

I'll stick with my Springfield XD that cost 1/3 of the price, and carries twice the ammo

I love 1911's, currently have a Dan Wesson and Sig in 10mm but if ever charged by a brown bear again want more ammo capacity. Originally went with a Glock mod 20 but now carry a XDM elite. Family has 4 XDM's, completely reliable, good triggers can find no fault with them.

Delta Elite keeps me happy

... and proud

That Kimber will probably break at some point.

If you want a 1911 style 10mm look no further than a Tisas 10mm D10. It is a $1500 pistol being sold for around $685

I will second the Tisas recommendation. I thought I should at least test a 10 mm so bought one and took it with me to the Shootist Event this spring at the NRA Whittington center. It impressed everyone who tried it and digested everything I loaded , including standard .40 loads up to heavy Buffalo Bore 10mm loads. Even interchanged in the the magazine ! I also learned that a number of high end gunsmiths are using the forged Tisas receivers and top ends for their custom guns .

It’s accurate and the power closely matches the .41 magnum.

I went with the Springfield.
So far it's flawless with 40 call duty ammo through heavy cast bear loads.
That said, i hope i never have to rely on it to stop a bear.

I think we all should have a 10-mm.
We would be in good hands.

I bought a Kimber Camp Guard 10mm couple years ago. Beaut of a pistol and fits my hand and I have been a 1911 user for a long time. I have yet to shoot 2 Wilson Combat 9 Round mags thru it with out a failure to feed.

Tried two other types of mags. and 4 brands of ammo. But, Kimbers barrel does offer a good head supported chamber for the 10mm.

I haven't put 300 rounds thru it, but will soon. My Dan Wesson Long Slide ate every thing and was hungry for more.

Phil it depends on your definition of closely. Buffalo Bore factory ammunition 10mm 220 grain bullet 1200 fps. 41 magnum 230 grain 1450 fps. Hodgdon reloading data 10mm 220 grain bullet 987 fps. 41 magnum 240 grain 1575 fps. Both Hodgdon loads pressure about 35,000 psi. This makes sense when case capacity for 10mm is 34 grains of water. 41 magnum is 52 grains. If I were to opt for a semi automatic I would use a 1911 in 460 Rowland 230 grain bullet 1336 fps.

Lighter, more ammo, ease of maintenance, corrosion resistance, price.....

Would love to see a 10-12 round, 4 1/4", 45/10mm 1911 that didn't bust 40 oz loaded.
With a good coating and under $600.

You can get several of those qualities, but usually miss several.

Many carry 1911s, and good for them, it's never a bad choice.

Looking at it as a tool,
the plastic guns win. IMO.

The all-steel eaa witness compact is right at 40.8 oz with 8 rounds. Haven't had a jam in over 2 years. I won't load anything more than 8 rounds in the mags, because I don't need the high capacity.

Paid $500 for it. I don't know how this compares to the latest polymer compacts.

2 years ago, I replaced all the springs(even the magazine springs) with heavier wolf springs. That fixed the occasional failure to feed.

I REALLLY like single action/double action. Loaded chamber, trigger on half-cock. Quick, and no bllsht.

With a 3.6" barrel it fits in any parka pocket. Wearing bibs and parkas, there no belts/holsters. Only option is a parka pocket.

Anyways, the witness compact is forgotten about, in the world of compact 10 mm's
