You can get a new lid for it from Lodge, glass or cast iron.

It's not a dutch oven like you said, it's a deep skillet, much like my grandma's “chicken fryer”. And it is great for frying chicken.

That is a chicken fryer. I have one that gets used alot. Mine is slick as black glass.
