Been talking to a lot of hunters who believe that an outbreak of EHD (blue tongue) took a big toll on the local deer herd this past summer and early fall. For some reason, bucks seem more likely to get it than does. It literally wiped out the bucks in a few areas, with landowners telling me that in certain places they found dozens of deer, including a number of trophy bucks. While the biggest outbreak seems to have in nearby counties, I did find a couple of bucks dead here on my farm. I blamed their death on the White Trash neighbor as they were close to his property, but I'm rethinking that now, as I'm seeing fewer bucks on trail cam than in a number of years.

Has anyone else around these parts noticed anything about this? I'm curious as to how widespread it was.
