the only big screen i have is my computer, haven't watched tv on a tv in over a decade.

BUT, if I had to pick something:

Sharp - The ones made in Japan are very well made, and excellent TVs. I don't think they make a 75" in Japan though. So, maybe that wont work for you.

Sony - Most Sony TVs are made in one of the 30 Japanese facilities.

I refer to my wife as 'the speaker of the house'...now is that the truth?...or is it deemed disrespectful?

The gentlemanly behavior and polite dialogue found on the fire has been an inspiration to me. Big Stick has been particularly helpful.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.

Afterthought, why would anybody be concerned about shipping hazards? I'm thinkin'...the Chink version of warehouse apes put your tv in a container van. Sum Ting Wong Harmonious Trucking Co took it to the Port of Shanghai, the Chink longshoremen put it on the ship, the ship took it 10,550 Km across the Pacific in schitty weather, the longshore apes unloaded it at Port of Long Beach, trucked across the US on smoooth freeways.....and you are worried about UPS to the Tikka hut?

I have had the best experience with LG TVs. We have two of them in the 7000 series purchased from Costco. The 8000 series is the follow-up model. These are the lower end models but, in my opinion, they are very good.

Current sale at Costco
75 inch

86 inch

Of course, they have more expensive LG models that are also on sale.

We are very, very happy with our LG OLED TV. We bought it a couple years ago and have had no problems with it.

Umm...how to ask this with some delicacy and politeness...if a sex scene happens to pop up on a 75 inch tv...would that be embarrassing or intimidating to a person who was only 72 inches tall, asking for a friend.

tikkanut;
Good afternoon, I hope the day was kind to you all and you're all well.

Regarding TV's, our current one is a few years old and is the second large flat screen we've had.

The new one is a smart TV but I've no idea how many pixels of resolution it has, sorry.

My wife watches more than I do and since we're rural with extremely slow internet her Roku works reasonably well but is limited by the internet speed de jure sorta thing.

Of the various brands of TV's we looked at, the LG was much, much clearer than the other ones we looked at when you couldn't watch it from fairly straight on. For that reason we ended up with an LG because of where the TV is and how she watches it, by which I mean its on a swiveling stand and sometimes she'll watch it while she's cooking and sometimes while sitting.

Some of the other brands and I'm sorry I don't recall which now, but some were downright terrible if one was even a wee bit off to either side trying to watch.

Our rural power is somewhat varied too apparently, so until we started putting fairly decent surge protectors on our TV's they'd only last a few years.

The same with anything computerized so if one has a "smart" fridge for instance it might not be a bad plan and for sure with any computers.

Hopefully that made sense and was useful to you or someone out there in the ether space tonight.

All the best and good hunting.

Dwayne

I’m still watching the Panasonic plasma I bought when I retired in 2010. Only a 56”, but the biggest that fits in my wall unit. I got it from Amazon and they shipped by UPS, their special electronics crew, who set it up nicely. Don’t know if they still have that service.
