Cheaper is always better I am told.
Really the cost is the only thing to consider when it comes to food.

Learned of it here on the fire & might be the best bacon I've had; Wrights.
But, I'm not a true bacon connoisseur & Wrights cost nearly the price of good Sirloin so I'd choose the beef. But that's just me.

What's the difference Conservative and Reform Jews? Shrimp!
I love bacon, but it seldom enters our home. 1) cost 2) salt content 3) I am a "Jew", I'm just not "jewish".
"IF" I'm going to buy bacon, you can bet on 2 things:
1) it won't be the cheap crap. 2) it WILL be a known, quality brand.

Sugardale is a name brand. We have bought Sugardale meats for 60 plus years in Pennsylvania. I like Sugardale, ham, bacon, and hotdogs. I also like Bar S brand hotdogs. To be honest I like cheap weenies made of chicken, pork, beef, and whatever else they swept up off the floor in the slaughterhouse at the end of the day, LOL.

I very rarely eat bacon but HEB's low salt works just fine.

Sugardale is good but it's far from Really Good Stuff. Enjoy.

I and others for the most part support the local Cloverdale foods. Bacon, sausage, and a variety of flavored links. There overstock store has bargains on 2nds and other goodies. They have more than most places at a good price.

Neuskes is great as is Bentons.
Wrights is good.
All others a tick lower, but I'll eat any of them.

I’ve been stuck on applewood smoked bacon for a while and have tried finding it cured in salt only, no nitrates. Searches so far haven’t been successful. Nitrates cannot be very good for us and I have enough things that will take me out without making it easy. I have no plans on giving up my good food choices.

You eat them in vegetables all the time. That is why we now have 'uncured' bacon in the stored that is cured with celery ( nitrates!). cooking nitrate meats at high temp, ie crispy bacon, changes nitrate to nitrosamines which has proven to cause cancer like about 1/2 the things we eat! moderation is the key. I make my own bacon and no nitrate version is grey and dosent crisp up, so I dont make it that way. But I do use alot less nitrate in my bacon. The store versions have much higher %.
