I think dragging a dead bear one mile with nothing but a 3ft long rope should be an olympic sports event. Does that count?

All depends how you "hunt".
America is (supposed to be) a Republic, NOT a democracy. Learn the difference, help end the lie. Fear a government that fears your guns.

I don’t view it as a sport. For me and my family it’s been a way of life and a way to supplement the larder. Of all the wonderful memories, most of them have to do with hunting and usually those memories are of hunting with family members now passed or time spent hunting with my four sons.

Depends upon how you define “sport”.
I’ve always said I have no appreciation for spectator sports. I say it with a certain emphasized derision. People understand what I mean.

A killing sport? Some of you guys get far too emotional when you shoot a deer or elk. Seen it many times. Pull the trigger and get to work. Sport or not. Sometimes it's more work than a sport.
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

IMO, a sport implies competition and winners and losers. Hunting doesn’t fit that mold.

Hunting is an activity. A very, very fun activity.
Camp is where you make it.

Sports are silly games. Hunting is a much more serious endeavor. Stupid question.

I don't
Do the deer know they are playing?
Do they know they lost the coin toss and have elected to receive?
BOOM!!!
Dang....said the deer. I'm loosing one to nothing already
BTW....
Golf isn't, Nascar isn't, checkers, chess ect ect ect You're talking a game/athletic skill event versus a true sport, like hunting or fishing, where one competes against one's self to develop their own skill at the sport, as in Sports Afield. Only if the deer, elk and bear were in play to kill the hunter then it would become a competitive event. Athletic games have polluted the term from the original meaning as defined by Webster.

For me, it is a hobby. I am not competing with anyone. There are no winners or losers. I’m just enjoying God’s creation.
