Yesterday my son and I went in a morning hunt at a local WMA. The wether was finally cool enough for warm coats and the sunrise was pretty.
The area is a nice blend of hardwoods and mature pines and we’ve seen fox squirrels there in the past. We split up, and about an hour later I ended up with a nice fox squirrel, totally wiffing a couple of shots and then finally connecting.
After that I bumped into a couple of greys and managed to take one at just the right level to recover the bullet, something I’ve never managed to do with a squirrel!
He was at my level about 30 yards away, with the bullet (CCI sub HP) entering at the base of his right ear, coming to rest just under the hide to the left of his butt.
All in all a great time in the woods and soenkng time with my son, and a bullet to add to the collection.
Here are a couple of pics:

Sounds like a good morning. What are the details on your rifle and what part of Georgia are you in?

It’s a Kimber Classic, Yonkers built I bought in the CF several years ago. The scope was a recent purchase here, Zeiss Conquest RF.

I’m in Stone Mtn, we hunt a couple of WMAs depending on the time frame, and if we are camping we head to Chattahoochee

Thanks for the reply. Beautiful rifle and a nice scope. I am in Toccoa.

Beautiful Kimber and a perfect mushroom on a big ol' fox squirrel, couldn't ask for better!
