More of you guys are leaning towards the Barnes 130gr TSX.

While this surprises me. I realize my initial thought about the TSX bullet not being a good choice was incorrect.

I will be shooting up the range tomorrow. We’ll see what the rifle shows promise with on target.

In typical Fire fashion, you all pick the one bullet have the least ammo for. 😬

I flunked math.

I admit, I’m glad to hear the TSX would be a good choice. Even if I have to buy more bullets.

I know you didn’t list as having any 120 gr. Ballistic Tips, but out of the 6.5 Creedmoor, this is your answer. It has worked for me on whitetail deer for the last three years. Deer hit with one don’t go far, usually only a few yards. I shoot behind the shoulder to take out the lungs. Get you some and load with Varget.

I have had excellent results with 120 grain Sierra soft points. The Nosler BT's also work very well.

I’d go with whichever of the 129 or 143 shot the best. I’d expect similar performance on meat.

I will never use an SST bullet again-in anything. One experience with them is enough. Too many good bullets out there to take a chance. For under 500 yards, it is impossible to get a better bang for the buck, than a 129 Interlock. I have killed probably over 200 deer with them in that weight/caliber and others. I have also become a fan of the 147 ELDM for deer. It works well and flies straight for as far as you want. Premium bullets are not needed for the anemic velocities of the Creedmoor. I also use the 129 in my .260's as my go-to for deer.

I'm a fanboy of the 129 Interlock. Killed a bunch of deer with it over the last 40 years out of various 6.5x55's. No muss no fuss, dead as all get out. Been working up loads for the current 6.5x55, Ruger 1A, with 139 Scenar and Berger 130 VLD Hunting and figure to use either/or sometime soon as accuracy is phenomenal as you would expect, but the Interlocks got the nod yet again this year.

factory hornady 140 eld-m white box match, from muzzle to past 600 no better option, if it shoots tight just grab a few cases and do everything with it, been shooting the factory 123 gr eld-m match from a 6.5 Grendel for 6 seasons, 20 big game animals over 7 species 10-420 yards, deadly combo...the 140 is the sleeper, cheaper, but guys do fall for marketing don't they wink

the match is actually more killy than the hunting marketed eld-x and sst stuff...just sayin, people ain't gonna like that but the truth don't care

My Kimber 6.5 shoots 127 LRX and 139 Scenars into 1/2" groups and both bullets kill effectively from short to long range

I actually have some of the 140's on the brown truck for my first evah 6.5 Creed, those and the Federal loaded 135 Berger hybrid(whatever the hell those are....lol)

3 rounds total through the new rifle at work the other morning. One sighter at 108 yards, adjust the scope and the next two factory 129 Interlocks were dead on and within an inch of each other.

Waiting on a suppressor before I get too worked up about shooting this setup.

Good evening my cyber friend, I trust this last day of the second last month finds you well as can be, all things considered and all that.

While I am cognizant you've asked about a 6.5CM, which I have absolutely no experience with at all, I can comment on the 130 TSX out of a 20" Swede 96.

Without looking at the notes and records, I want to say it's going out at 2650fps out of our eldest's Swede. She's killed 6 or maybe 7 local mulie and whitetail bucks with them, the ranges being from about 60yds to far enough that I asked her twice if she wanted to try to get closer.

I'm the worst at range estimation, but that was a fair sized buck that looked small in my 8X binos.

None of them stayed in any of the bucks and all of them exhibited signs of working perfectly when we took a look at the tissue damage. We cut our own game as you know and can do at least a semi-educated autopsy when doing that.

The performance of those bullets, at that speed, was one of the reasons I pulled the barrel off of my .270 and it's now a Swede as well.

So far I've been playing with other bullets and leaving her the lifetime supply of the 130 TSX that I managed to squirrel away, but I would use them in my Swede - 21" barrel on a 98 action - without any reservations.

Again it's a fairly small sample and we're not shooting nearly as far as some folks do.

Hope that was useful and all the best to you all as we head into winter.

Dwayne

Dwayne,

Thank you. I appreciate the field info on the 130 tsx from the Swede 96. Sounds like your daughter has herself a real nice meat getter. I hoped for something similar out of my Fierce Mini Rogue. I believe I’m getting there.

The rifle is shooting both the 130 TSX and 143 ELDX really well. Either bullet will work just fine for what I’m using the rifle for.

I did an early speed test with the 143 eldx after 10 rounds on the barrel. Averaged out @ 2540 fps. I need to get a few more rounds on the rifle, then speed test the 130’s and 143’s again.

The 140 eldm has been a hammer for a friend of mine on hogs and deer from 30yds or so out to just over 100. If I was going to hunt with a 6.5cm that or the Scenar is probably where I’d start.

Worked up a load with 147's and RL26....thought I'd give it a try.. no experience on game.
I've killed with 120bt, 129 hor IL, 130 TGK, 140 bt, and 143 eldx all great bullets.
I'll try the 147's later on some doe hunts....curious if the bullet fragments causing excessive meat damage.
