My first was with a Remington 770 in 300wm that had something like a 5-stage trigger and rusted if you looked at it too hard 😂😇. (That said, it was cheap enough for a college kid to buy new and shot 180s MOA).

My most recent was with a Marlin 336 (produced in 1992) in 30-30.

Gun season hasn't opened here yet but this year an Erma Werke m98 (1939 production) in 6.5x55 will be up to bat.

Welp, here's my story. That's me on the right with my first buck back in 1966. Got the 7 pointer on the first day opener on our dairy farm here in Pa. with my (borrowed) uncles 30-30 pre 64 Winchester model 94 carbine. The deal was being rifles were in short supply in the family, some were stuck using their shotguns with slugs, so as soon as I got my buck, the rifle went back to my uncle. So, that's me with my first buck but holding my dad's Remington 760 Gamemaster 270. My buddy Bob (left) is holding his M-94 in 32 Special. He'd walk 2 miles over the hill from his house just to hunt with us on our farm. My latest deer rifle is an 8mm Mauser Husky purchased on here from luv2safari.

My first deer was taken with a Marlin 336 in 30-30, Tasco 3-9 scope

My current hunting rifle is an MRC X2 .260rem 20" threaded barrel with a Deadair Nomad30 ti suppressor, Zeiss Conquest 3.5-10 x 44 scope in Tally lightweight rings. It's the most enjoyable rifle to carry and shoot.

My first was a Lee Enfield No. 5 Jungle Carbine in .303 British. My latest is my dad's old Remington 721 30/06. He passed in April. I was with him when he killed his last deer with that rifle. It hadn't been shot since then. I traded the old Weaver for a Leupold and sighted it in. Hope to get a deer or elk with it next year.

First was, you'll be surprised to hear, an open-sighted Marlin 336 CS in .30/.30. Maywood, NE area circa 1989.

Got half of my bucks with a bow in recent years, half with a Marlin XS-7 in .308 with 3-9x40 VX-1. Good bargain rig.

First buck was in Carbon County, PA. Used a Marlin 336 in .35 Remington I bought when I came home from the war in 1970.
Purchased at Leslie Edelman's in Horsham, PA for $74.95. Ad was in the Sunday Philadelphia Inquirer. Last rifle was a Ruger RSI .243.

It was not a rifle. Winchester model 12 loaded with double ought buckshot. Latest is .270 in Remington 700.

We are opposites! My first was a Marlin 30/30. My last is a Browning Bar MK3 Stalker 300WSM. In the middle of all of that were several other 300 wsm's, 30.06's, 300 utra mags and a 45/70. And at least a handful of other calibers. My go to hunting rifles right now are, Reminton 700 VTR 223, Tika t-3 Ultralite 6.5 CM, Kimber Mountain Ascent 300 WSM, Browning Bar MK3 Stalker 300 WSM and a Henry 45/70. Just depends on the hunt!

A 380 in my pocket is better than a 45 in my truck!
