Like the title says, I'm interested in hearing what velocities people are getting out of their TC Contender rifles/ carbines 20"+, in 6mm tcu. I have a G1 frame and several barrels (.22LR, .223, 7-30w and 7tcu) but have an itch for 6mm and the tcu version appears to be the answer.

Thanks for looking and looking forward to the replies.

You will probably need to look at data for the 6mm-223. There are many more barrels in that caliber and it only requires necking up to 6mm, where the 6mm TCU needs to be fire formed. TC printed a couple of Contender load manuals that included the 6mm TCU, but they have been out of print for many years. I borrowed one from a local gun shop when I bought a .30 Herrett barrel. Someone later borrowed the manual and failed to return it.

If you look on line at the 6mm Mongoose load data on the Mad Dog Weapons Systems forum, you will find a round that can be formed for the AR-15 magazine length using 6mm TCU dies.
The AR-15 and TC have similar load pressure restrictions.

I own an 18" 6 Mongoose with a 1-8 twist barrel. Shoots 3/10 at 3,000 fps with an 80 grain. H-335 or 844 works well. Death on sound dogs.

Thanks for the posts gentlemen, I'd about given up on it.

Rapier, I'll check out the 6mm Mongoose and Leon, I'll take a closer look the 6-223 (x45?) I actually have the load manual you referred to but all the numbers are for a 14" barrel and of limited powder data and was hoping for real world numbers in rifle length barrels. I've been eyeing the 6ARC but having to start with the cost of a new rifle, ARC cases and the shortages occurring again i figured the easy route is to just go with a barrel for my contender and use .223/5.56 brass I already have on hand. From that manual and Hodgdons' Data Manual #26 the 6TCU looked to have an edge over the 6x45 and with those light bullets I wanted all the help I can get velocity wise.
