There’s only one way this goes and it’s been proven over and over again.

Hunting for hooved quarry will never be the same in these areas, until finally not allowing hunting becomes the only solution to the decimated populations.

Utah's telling Colorado that they have to pay for any damage from their wolves that end up in the state.

Utah should simply put a bounty of 500.00 dollars or more on any wolf killed in the state. Any wolf, collared or otherwise.
Maybe that will drive the point home. Back charge Colorado for the related expenditures.

Wolves are still listed under ESA in Utah. Kinda crimps the plan.

Utah should tell The Dept. of Fish and Wildlife and any federal judge to pound sand and do it anyway, however. One state should not be able to implement something that affects another without any repercussions.

There were native wolves in Idaho, too. Under the ESA, they should have been protected. The introduction brought in a non-native wolf and within a couple years the native gene pool was killed off or bred out of existence. This whole introduction thing violates the ESA.

I was raised ranching in N.W. Colorado, and Wyoming, our Mule deer and Elk hunting was some of the best in the U.S. then the Colorado Fish & Game the wealthiest state agency in the state at the time decided they needed more money. they sold Western Colorado big game down the river it only took about 3 years and the Deer and Elk numbers were reduced by about 50%. Wolves can't do much more damage than the Colorado Fish & Game has already done.

Hunting Colorado now is a waste of time and money. I'm happy we sold out and moved to a free state. Rio7

the wolves will just finish what's left of the deer and elk from last years hard winter that about wiped 'em out in the N.W. corner of the state.

Lotta truth in this^^. Same with Antelope; there used to be thousands in the NW and out in the Pawnee Grasslands, now they are "at objective levels" which means scarce but enough to sell thousands of licenses. When pressed, they blame it on the Ag stakeholders.

These wolf programs (introduction of predators) seem to mirror their (liberals) approach to immigration and policing of the human population.

Not sure why wolves are “necessary” when state agencies could simply issue more game permits to hunters every few years, to keep overpopulation in check?? Probably because they hate hunting.

My thoughts too. They mention the wolves have already learned how to hunt elk in Oregon, implying that will be their only prey species( because, ya know, there's plenty of elk to go around). But the mule deer and moose pop. will be hit the hardest. The elk will end up down in the ranch land and human corridors year around, causing more issues with feed depredation on those ranches and increased accidents on the busy highways, to name just a few of the knock effects.

Wolves aren't a means of controlling game numbers. They're a means to eliminate hunting entirely by reducing game animals to such low levels that hunting will have to be stopped. This whole thing is a long term plan by the anti-hunters. They made mistakes in the early states like Idaho in that wolves got removed from the endangered list and became game animals themselves. They learned from their mistakes and it won't happen in CO.
