I need some for rabbit hunting and tracking deer in the southeast thickets.
What is the recommended fabric - nylon faced, waxed canvas, etc?

Mil-surp Gore-Tex.

I like the old, pre-digital, British and French, Gore-Tex camo gear if moving as quietly as possible through cover it not an important consideration.

If you look at the British camo gear, they made "wind-proof" gear that looks a lot like their Gore-Tex gear, but isn't. The "wind-proof" gear uses large buttons to secure the pockets, while the Gore-Tex gear uses Velcro.

Growing up we all looked as if we had tried to fornicate with a bobcat in a phone booth after a few hunts. The older guys stood around the edges for a reason!

TA, I saw that pic you put up of your rabbit running crew, that brought back some great memories.

Seems like the old pants had a couple extra layers of thick canvas on the front?

Yessir, I love me some rabbit hunting. You're welcome to come hunt with us if you'd like.

The pants I had when was a young buck had vinyl on them - they would crack after a couple of seasons, but they were the best! I can't find any like that anymore.

A good pair of brush pants is an absolute requirement for driving deer and bear where I hunt.

I'm not brand loyal. When I need a new pair I go to grices and try some on.

Never had Cooldry, but when I had to get into big Himalayan blackberry thickets, I put on old Grunden bibs. The heavy duty ones, Hercules I believe they are called.

Heavy, and you’ll sweat, but your hide stays mostly intact. Lol.

A buddy had a set of filson chaps he had picked up stupid cheap. Those things seemed pretty bomb proof.
