I went to BassPro to look at Vortex 10x50 Binoculars. Came home with a Tikka .243 win with 1:8 twist (didn't need it, but wanted it because of the 8 twist). Now to scope it, adjustable elevation turret, 30mm tube, 50mm objective, as lite of weight as possible (no more than 20 oz), NO fancy reticle, adjustable parallax (side focus), 1/4 moa adjustment, low end 3-4 power, high end 15-16 power, trying not to spend over $1200.00. This comes close in $$ https://www.eurooptic.com/Zeiss-CON...le-93-Ext-Elevation-Turret-Ballisti.aspxWhat else is out there? TIA Tom

I put a VX-5HD 3-15x44 firedot on mine. Also available in standard duplex, or 56mm.
19.7 oz., and not really losing any light gathering over a 50mm.
Plenty available for under $900 for the standard Duplex $791 at TheGunDock

Imo they are a good match. the 3x is fine for up close shots and the 15x will take you out as far as you need to go. it's great at the range also. no problems seeing bullet holes on paper. I bought all three of them here in the classifieds for less than $900 brand new in the sealed box. PM barm, he can hook you up. warpig602 is also a good seller for these scopes NIB.

I talked to technical support with Leupold. Basic question is the glass in the VX-3HD and VX-5HD the same and the answer was NO. The VX-5HD has better glass. He told me the VX-5HD has a sharper image and better contrast. So it looks like the VX-5HD 3-15x44 is it. Now to decide which reticle. Leaning towards the FireDot.

If you hunt at first and last legal shooting hours, I'd encourage you to consider a lighted reticle.

The last couple of decent bucks I've killed in the evening arrived very near the end of legal shooting hours and both were basically like shooting a dark silhouette with a lit reticle.
Now with even more aplomb

Call Doug and get one of these: https://cameralandny.com/shop/brand...013a-6b3b-00163ecd2826?variation=3146596 It's 3.1 ounces heavier than your spec, but that much weight is hard to avoid with good glass with the other features you want. Okie John
If Montana had a standing army, a 270 Win with Federal Blue Box 130's would be the standard issue.

I have the 2-10 version. I would change one thing: heavier duplex reticle. The dot is daylight bright and has auto shutoff. I think you chose well.

I had a SWFA 10x sitting around, so that’s what I installed. (Accurate rifles by the way)

The scope arrived yesterday and I mounted it on the Tikka using Warne dovetail rings. I will be going to the range today for site in.
