First time I had carried a lever gun without a scope hunting in years. 4 tags filled in Virginia with 5 weeks left. Figured I'd break out one of the 94s. I had forgotten how well they carry. Passed a doe and yearling this evening. Nothing else moving [Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]

I'm hunting a 1936 Model 71 , killed two does opening day and have passed on small bucks . Saw three big bucks running together 3 or 4 weeks before opening day so I'm waiting to see one of them . No scrapes anywhere on my place so no rut yet. Probably wont start till middle of December despite of what the state of Alabama's rut forecast chart says for this area. Looks like a nice '94 , what year and cartridge ?

Grumpy old man with a gun.....Do not touch .
Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.
Don't bother my monument and I'll leave yours alone.

It's a 1965 model. The antique or antique commerative whoever you ask. Shooting 150 gr Nosler ballistic tip ( round nose for 30-30) over 335. Gun shoots right at 2" at 100 yards . Can't complain for irons .

No matter what else is in the safe it's still plenty of gun for 90% of the places I hunt.

Thank you. I've got a little over a month in the season in part of Virginia that I hunt most. Already decided I'm carrying the 94 until I get a deer with it.
