The iconic Ultra Light Arms rifle and caliber by the master gunmaker, Melvin Forbes. Ain't gonna be any more like these ones. If you are a mountain hunter and a rifle guy this is as good as it gets IMHO. Been dragging one of these up and down mountains for 33 years. Dunno how many rounds, same barrel still shoots lights out. Just sayin'.
140 grain Nosler Partition (yesterday's bullet today), 55 grains IMR 4350. Melvin's recipe in 1990 when I bought it. Never shot anything else. Might be able to get tighter groups with something else I guess if you are a shooter but as a hunter it kills whatever you point it at. Just my observation after shooting more critters with it than I can remember.
the fieldcraft and the ula stock are very close in dimensions
Yep. Which is why it’s interesting that some seem to have such a strong preference for one over the other.
The fieldcraft stock is definitely “slicker”; but nothing paint won’t fix.
Up for an icon.
I have a NULA and a Fieldcraft and both stock designs feel good in the hand. The smoother NULA vs the textured Fieldcraft is the biggest difference IMHO. donsm70

Incredible rifle. On a scale of 1-10 how pumped were you when this rifle rolled into your shop or your possession? Holy schitt
my favorite rifle is a nula m20 338-284, 22 inch #3 at 6lb flat scoped and is a absolute laser with 4 different hand loads from 160-200gr all cut holes and hit within a inch of each other collectively. if i didn't have this 338-284 id be all over this 284. glws
All I ever shot in thing was factory ammo probably put 40 down it. Got it used out of an estate deal so I don’t know round count.
Yes can’t keep them all between me & my dad we have about 30 NULA, Forbes, & rebuilt CLRs. That’s basically the only guns we hunt with we have carried them all over North America & Africa.
