Several years ago I collected enough pop bottles to buy a 17hmr.

It is a Ruger American.

It never extracted well. Ever.

I was really worried I was going to have to send it back to Ruger.

After the rations of shìt I have given Barnard about his Ruger warranty claims....I really didn't want to send it in.

So, I took my fine stones and reshaped the extractor so it would engage more surface area on the rim.

Then I polished the chamber with a bronze brush chucked in a drill....with several drops of Kroil on it.

Then I wrapped a little 4/0 steel wool on the brush and ran the drill some more.

Seems to work fine now and I don't have to apologize to Paul.

Win win.

Lololol. Extraction problems are common on American rimfires. I have four. One has been perfect, two have occasional issues and the Whitaker special 17 HM2 is bad.
