Was considering testing the Speer 6.5mm Speer Gold Dot bullets but they aren't available anywhere AFAIK.

I'm curious if Speer is still manufacturing these after being bought out not long ago? Any insight? Seems odd to be sold out everywhere, thoughts?

They sight has no 26 cal Gold Dot bullets either.

So are they still manufacturing bullets? Is this left over stock or is stock replenished from time to time?

I hope so. The Gold Dot bullets in both 6.5 and .308 are excellent!

I was hoping someone on the Campfire would have some insight into what is going on at Speer. Honestly, the Gold Dot is the only bullet I’m interested in testing. Im starting to see a little product from most bullet mfgs so hopefully the same comes true for Speer.

Lol, speer just got sold. More than likely taking inventory and dumping remaining stock just like Norma was doing before the sale to Beretta. So if you don’t see it available at Speer then its not available nor will it be for awhile.

You might check with the Federal guys. Their 270gr 44 caliber bullet disappeared from the market only to reappear in Federal's Hammerdown ammo line for the 444. If it's not available as a component, I'd bet they are either loading all they can make or have shut down one line to keep another one in production.

I don't pay much attention anymore, but I got a couple hundred 6.5, 140-grainers a while back for a song. They were not quite as accurate as some bullets, but penetrated well and stayed together well. In my Creeds, they run around 3/4 moa out to 400 yards, no matter what the powder-which is more than acceptable for hunting.
