I recently added a 375 H&H to my growing #1 collection.
This will be my first 375 and unfortunately my eyes are to the point I need a scope.
I am open for suggestions in new or used. I definitely want a decent amount of eye relief. I am thinking lower power would be best. Was thinking a straight tube. Will probably shoot deer and elk with dreams of Africa( will probably remain a dream)
I have a few leupold scopes Vari x2 in 3x9 and vx1 or2 can’t recall in 2-7. A lot of other scopes mounted that can be used but most are similar to above.
Thanks for suggestions in advance

I put a 1.5-4x20mm on my .450/.400 NE 3" #1. Plenty of eye relief.

Do note that the factory butt stock was primarily cut for the use of irons, and in the larger calibers (RE: recoil) I recommend using low rings so as to maintain as solid a cheekweld as possible.

That almost screams older Leupol Vari-X III gloss 1.5-5x20. I saw one the other day that I almost bought.

Was it a Leupold? Vintage?

With my bad eyesight & glasses, it has always been a challenge for me to find scopes for my eight falling blocks that work well for me. It seems that some scopes that work well for others aren't as usable for me. The ones that do work best (not surprisingly!) are some of the more expensive ones. My choice for my Winchester 1885 Safari Octagon in .375 H&H might not be what you're looking for, but since you asked the question and this is one of my favorite scopes, I thought I would mention it: The Swarovski z6 1.7-10x42!

I like everything about this scope: Size, zoom range, clarity, eye box, eye relief, construction,...,etc. Well everything except the price. wink

It's a Leupold. Part of me bought it just to see how long it would stay together considering the recoil involved.

Still going strong...

I'm too damn lazy to go and dig to the back of a very full gun safe but IIRC, my Ruger $1 .375 H&H has an older all steel Weaver K3 or K4 with post and crosshair. It works just fine for my use.

Thanks guys
PJ I had a old steel tube 3x Weaver NIB. A friend was a dealer in the day. That scope went on a friends 45/70 #1, I sure liked the feel of that rifle scope combination. I never did shoot it though. Sold my 45/70 new in the box to a friend last year. He and I popped its cherrie this past summer.
Told him I would buy it back. Lol

That right there. I had a 3-9X Leupold Vari X 2 (same one!) on my last 2 .375s, one a Ruger #1, one a 700 XCR. Enough eye relief I didn't get popped, low enough on the low end for anything I'd want to shoot, and enough on the high end for load development.

I use Nikon Monarch/African 1-4x20's on all my No. 1's, including this 375 H&H. 4" constant eye relief, longer tube and a rear offset ring helps getting the scope back far enough which can be an issue for some.

I have a Leopold Vari X III 1.5 X 5 X20 on my #1 375 and a 2.5X8 x 40 on another #1 450-400 NE. I wish I had a 2.5X8 on the 375 as well.
