Been a long while since I looked at these. Is this guy in the ballpark? And why would one remove the finish?

Molested. Look at all the sanding marks in the wood. A workable project for someone who'd want to take it on, but not at that price.

In addition to the wood issues, Number 1 7x57s of that era may suffer from crappy barrels, looonnng throats, or maybe both. I had one that simply wouldn’t put three shots in a group, sometimes two.

You can do better, though not price-wise.
