OP The_Real_Hawkeye Campfire Sage T Joined: Jun 2002 Posts: 131,926 Likes: 53 USA	The die set arrived yesterday. I bought it (.357 Magnum/.38 Special) used off eBay. It appears to have come with two extra bullet seaters. What is the purpose for the extras? They have heads shaped different from the seater that's installed in the die. Are they especially designed for full wadcutters? Some other kind of bullet? Thanks. Also, they seem identical. Why would I need two identical ones?

Select the one that best fits whatever bullet you are using and load away. Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. BRISTECD Campfire Regular Joined: Aug 2009 Posts: 1,752 South Texas	They don’t look identical to me - one is deeper. Those are for wad cutters, flat nosed, truncated nose. I assume the one for round nose is in the seater die.

A lot of pistol JHP s are soft enough to be deformed too. I've often had issues with jhp bullets from my ancient RCBS 44 mag dies. Parents who say they have good kids..Usually don't!

If so, then that's probably for truncated cone shaped bullets (SWC Keith type). And the shallow one would be for full wadcutter. B L M - Bureau of Land Management

Likely .135"? thick that lets you set your dies to 38 special brass & when ya want to load 357's just use the spacer Without changing die settings. In a single stage of course.

Paul39 Campfire Outfitter P Joined: May 2002 Posts: 10,650 Likes: 4	If you want a dedicated seating stem for a certain bullet, you can put some epoxy putty in the stem recess, lightly run a round into the die, after first putting release agent on the bullet. Perfect fit. Done properly, it prevents marring a soft bullet. Stupidity has its way, while its cousin, evil, runs rampant.
