He's an 8 month old WPG. Still a big puppy. Doesn't have much for furnishings and his wire coat is just coming in. He's got a good pedigree. Hopefully turn him into a bird finding machine by next season. Thanks Valsdad, He's a big goofy 8 month old pup right now. His owner had a young son who ended up being very allergic to dogs. Guy was in a tough spot. I was glad to help out. That WPG is a dead ringer for GSP! 😁 Not that it matters a damn if he hunts well and you’re happy. 👍
Just got back from a woodcock hunt with my old WPG. We put up one Woodcock and I wiffed on a gimme. Poor old girl was about stiff after only a half hour or so. Made it a quick afternoon.
Just a moment ago got off the phone with a local breeder who hosts AKC hunt tests and does NAVHDA as well. Going to a hunt test in March to see some dogs and maybe try to line up a pup for 2025.
Think I’d like a tight coat GWP or a GSP this go’round. My dog has been an absolute pleasure but I’m done with longer coats. Short tight and harsh is going to be the quest for the next dog.

Good for you! Yeah, this dude doesn't look the part. His coat is wiry and he gets some random long ones on his chin but it definitely is not the standard. He comes from Idaho. Has a lot of Hun Hill on both sides of his pedigree. I don't plan to breed him so, doesn't matter to me. His parents and all his siblings look like a standard WPG.
