I have a chance on buying a well worn, read that beater grade, Remington model 141 in 35 Rem for dirt cheap. I have seen various scoping options. This being 2023, the online websites aren't very helpful in the oddball base / ring options. I see side mounts, which I am not a fan of, one piece Weaver style that are mounted in the lower center area between the raised front receiver ring and rear bridge. And also 2 piece Weaver style on the front receiver ring and barrel. I haven't seen any with Weaver style on the raised front and rear rings; I don't know what is going on in the action.
What Weaver Bases do you have on your 141 and where are they mounted? This gun is in no way collectible. If I get it, I want to be able to hunt with it.

I can not answer your question as to the weaver bases but I may have an original marbles peep that mount that uses the factory holes at the rear of the action if you are interested.

i don't know about bases, i have a Remington m14 in 30 Remington that i never scoped. i found a Lyman R14 tang peep sight that i got from Ebay cheap. it was $40 or $50, compared to $300 to $400. i would try finding a Lyman R14 or another. i would not even attempt to put scope bases on it, even if it is considered a junk rifle.

I had a Remington 141 with the Weaver front base installed on the barrel, just ahead of the receiver, and it worked fine. I don't believe that Weaver made a one-piece base for the Remington 14/141.
Back in the day, Redfield made a one-piece turn-in base for the Remington 14s and 141s, the JR-14, Redfield's part number511102 according to a 1964 Shooter's Bible.

I have a couple boxes full of random Weaver style bases, I am sure I could find a couple that *should* work with a 141...I'll have to dig them out when I get home in a couple days. I have an older 141 in .35 Rem that I would love to find a peep for, but prices have gotten crazy!
Do you have someone who will drill/tap the receiver?

Very interesting, I havent seen more than two or three Remington 141s that were not drilled and tapped All of the Remington 14s and 141s that I've seen have two factory d&t holes on the rear of the receiver for tang peep sights from Lyman and Marble's. I've always wondered why Remington didn't d&t on the left side of the receivers for Lyman, Redfield, and Williams receiver sights on any of their pump action rifles.
