I bought one of these "Spetsnaz Machetes" (Russian for "Special Machete") back in the early 1990s when they were coming in cheap due to the collapse of the Soviet Union. Mine is in unused, factory new, condition (including a nylon sheath made for it by the importer). I think I paid like $20.00 for it. Take a look at what they're going for today. Apparently, they've become highly sought after collectables. LinkI came upon it while clearing out some old storage space. I guess I threw away the packaging and instructions for it back in the 1990s. They add to the collector value today.
I don't know why they didn't import it with the actual military-issue sheath, instead of the American made nylon sheath.

It looks like a well thought out tool. I like the Bakelite scales. Apparently, that's part of the collector appeal. Very Sovietski. Any original Soviet equipment with Bakelite is sought after.

Here's a reproduction with some interesting notes about the original. https://www.atlantacutlery.com/spetsnaz-style-survival-knifemachetechopperThis modern update takes the original Soviet special ops design and improves the functionality. The original had a hollow, squarish plastic handle to store matches and the like, but made the knife incredibly tip heavy and hard to use. This version has a full profile tang and contoured hardwood scales for superior comfort and balance. And the original blade was made from super-hard steel so the knife could be used as a pry-bar but was next to impossible to sharpen. Modern carbon steel makes this updated blade easier to give a fresh edge.

I don't think the originals are collectable because they were a particularly well made product.

I would take that ETSY site with a grain of salt.
I was looking for the value of some Victorinox knives my dad obtained from Europe,about ten years ago.I found one on that site and he was asking $900.00.My dad has 16 of those.
When I asked my dad what he paid for them,he said he paid about $50.00 each and they may be worth $250.00 now.
