There are a lot of different variations of Turkish Mausers.
I'm not a fan, but if the sporterization was done well and you have $250 in discretionary income to pay for it, then go for it. Life is full of opportunities, some pan out and some don't, but you'll never know if you don't make the effort.

Without seeing it no telling. I have used a couple Turkish Mausers in builds and they worked out.

Early turk mausers where large ring small thread and make nice sporters by turning down the front ring and rear bridge, they are identical to 1909 peruvian . I built a 7x57 on a 1903 turk and 308 on a 1909 peru, and having a 358 win. being built on a turk now.

I bought 30 of them when they were selling for $29.95 apiece in Shotgun News. Made a bunch of sporters, and I've still got 10 or so originals still in the boxes they came in.

Ya recontour the rear bridge, you don't turn it down.
It wasn't just the 1903 Turks, the so-called M38 was a Large ring, small thread design.

Good answers... I suppose. But what's the question? I'm lost! Reiterated: "Are Turkish Mausers worth buying us for a week? It’s been sporterised for $250." "...us for a week...?" As in "...use for a week..." Maybe I'm just short a few beers in "conjuring" By now this is all just a postscript & 'academic'. But a principle lingering of not answering questions not clearly understood. Unless of course in speaking with 'the wife'! Best & Happy Holidays! John

Most of the Turkish Mausers that I have seen are in very poor condition

Sorry I was at work at the Fire Station trying to talk into my phone with ten guys talking around me. I guess it would not hurt to read my post before I send it next time. The question was if the Turkish 8 mm Mauser is worth $250. It has already been sporterised to some extent. Thanks for the replies.

Worth depends on condition and state of conversion. What exactly does the sporterizing consist of? In general, any unmolested 98 action is good condition would be worth $250.

To me the worst Mauser. I thought they are loose and floppy. Just tired and crappy machining

I remember seeing those actions for $30. I wanted a couple but the kids were small and the City fought us tooth and nail for every pay raise. I had to pass. They sure do have a lot of potential. kwg
