I had to make an image to post on another forum and got the bright idea to post it here too. Perhaps start a discussion about "alternative" .22 Hornet single shots?

German kiplauf (break open single shot stalking rifle). Maker unknown.

Specs: 5lbs. 11oz., 26" barrel, double set triggers, old Redfield 3/4" tube 4x scope. Gain twist rifling starts at 1-14" and ends at 1-9" near as I can determine. .226" groove diameter into which I load oversized (as-cast) cast bullets. Handles heavier 55-60 grain bullets with aplomb. Favorite loads: 55gr. Lee Bator and RCBS 60gr., both with 6.0 grains 2400 for 1600fps. 1/2" at 50 yards, commensurate at 100 yards. It's a keeper. Note that regular .22 Hornet dies are used, with the addition of a custom made neck expander for the larger diameter bullets.

It came to me with severe butt stock issues which I had to correct, including making a new butt plate and pistol grip cap both out of ebony.

Squirrels run and hide when they see it coming. That or the sight of me stumbling around!

Now that's a Hornet I would like to have! I admire you casting for a .22 as my old fingers are too stiff to hold on those tiny things. wink

Very nice! Cool that you got her fixed up and shooting again like she deserves.
